Looking back, Silovs said that he has had great opportunities, prepared for those moments and enjoy someone who can trust his teammates.
“So many things can happen,” he said. “A D-man can fall, everyone can fall. And just give that safety net for the boys, I think that is really important. Like on the couch, they said it is an escape, and they know it is, he has this, you know? No problem. He makes a save, we are going to score. I just look at that kind of mentality, and I think that is the way to go the way to go” “”
During an appearance on the Hockey -PdocastDubas said that Silovs was a player who had long circled the Penguins goal congregation department.
“He only shows the ability to rise at those moments,” said Dubas.
In the future, Pittsburgh’s President of Hockey Operations and GM said that it is all about finding consistency in the course of a season, and reliable in the evening out.
“Because of where we are compared to what the Canucks are, we will have more chance and runway for him to live a bit through the ups and downs,” said Dubas. “For us, knowing that he has been able to perform and at difficult moments in the play -offs and world championships to get into his career, it is difficult to find goalkeepers who have the same.”
With Vancouver who decides to continue with a tandem of Demko and Kevin Lankinen at the NHL level, the Penguins were able to pay part of the capital they have built up to acquire Silovs that have 19 total games of NHL experience.
“I thought it was great for me, the chance to play,” Silovs said. “Because, I mean, it was difficult. It was a tough road that sat down there with the three goalkeepers there. I think it is a phenomenal chance to play in the NHL. I just want to take it up and do my best.”
There are currently five goalkeepers on NHL contracts with Pittsburgh: Silovs, Tristan Jarry, Joel Blomqvist, Filip Larsson and Sergei Murashov. Dubas said that the best two goalkeepers who come from the training camp will be on the opening night schedule. To do that to do that, he just wants to keep building every day.
“Just focus on myself,” he said. “Like, do my things, practice my details about the game. It is as if it doesn’t really matter what other guys are doing. For me it’s just focusing on myself, and that’s it.”
He already feels comfortable in his new environment, which helps a lot.
“Yes, it was great,” Silovs said. “Just seeing the practice facility, the way everyone here is so professional and hospitable, it’s great to be around the boys here. Hard work … and yes, it was a pleasure and pleasure so far.”
