On this site over the years we have talked about different types of rivalry games. Most are dyades that are between two teams. A small handful of rivalry is between three teams, especially if they are not only in the same region, but in the same conference. When I wrote in the newspapers, the six Suburban One Patriot League matches were between Newtown Council Rock (Pa.), Langhorne Neshaminy (Pa.) And Levittown Pennsbury (Pa.) Must-see Veldhockey.
In recent years, however, we have a cluster of four eastern pennsylvania private school teams seen-pottown hill school (Pa.), Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.), Villanova Academy of Notre Dame de Namur (Pa.) All four were planned to play each other once during the regular season, and these young women gave us some incredible hockey. So far we have seen the following in 2025:
September 15: Episcopal Academy 1, Hill 0
September 16: Academy of Notre Dame 4, Episcopal Academy 1
September 23: Academy of Notre Dame 4, Villa Maria 1
October 1: Hill 1, Academy of Notre Dame 0
October 2: Episcopal Academy 2, Villa Maria 1
October 4: Villa Maria op Hill
Yes, this afternoon on Briggs Cunningham Field, the last of these six round-robin fixtures will take place. It will not have the same kind of implications as last year when both teams were undefeated. Both teams, however, will be stolen for a while: Opal Sparling, Mae Dixon, Sofia Ferri and Macy Rehak for Hill, and Jack Shaw, Caitlin Connell, Naomi Niewinski and Hadley Coupe for Villa Maria.
There will be a few important pieces in every team: for Hill, keep an eye on how goalkeeper Caeleigh Schuster and her defense game. For Villa Maria, keep an eye on first -year Sadie Niewinski.
Should really be a good afternoon of field hockey.
