The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted the renewal of the term of office of Raghavenendra Srinivas Bhat as director (MD) and CEO of Karnataka Bank.
The bank announced the stock markets on Saturday that the RBI has granted an extension for a period of one month, in force from October 16, 2025, or until the appointment of a regular MD and CEO, depending on what is earlier.
Bhat recorded the management as MD and CEO of the bank on July 16, 2025, for a period of three months. He previously held key positions, including Chief Operating Officer (COO), for almost four decades at Karnataka Bank Ltd.
To guarantee the continuity in operations after outputs at the highest level in the bank, Bhat was appointed as COO on 2 July. Bhat was retired as chief general manager of the bank.
The Board of Directors of Karnataka Bank accepted the resignation of Srikrishan Hari Hara Sarma as MD and CEO on 29 June. The resignation came into force on July 15, 2025. Sarma had cited personal reasons, including his decision to move to Mumbai to Mumbai, for his resignation.
Sekhar Rao, who was executive director of the bank, submitted his resignation on 29 June with reference to his inability to move to Mangaluru and other personal reasons. His resignation came into force on July 31, 2025.
