The Lakers certainly did their best to make LeBron James feel special on his 41st birthday.
Just after the team wrapped up a morning practice on Tuesday, head coach JJ Redick brought out a cake to celebrate another trip around the sun for the Los Angeles superstar.
The two-tiered sweet treat featured several tributes to James and his nickname “King,” including a crown and an image of his brand’s logo.
The Lakers head coach then had rookie Adou Thiero hop on the mic to serenade James with a rendition of “Happy Birthday to You.”
James seemed to appreciate the gesture as he had a big smile on his face throughout the entire spectacle, although he did have to tell his teammates to get off him when the hugs became excessive.
“The team celebrated the King’s birthday after practice,” the Lakers wrote in the caption of their Instagram post.
James won’t have much time to enjoy anything else on Tuesday as the Lakers will play the Pistons at 10:30 PM ET.
James has historically played very well on his birthday, averaging 32.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 10 tilts. according to StatMuse.
The last time he prepared for his pie day was in a 2023 game against the Timberwolves. He scored 26 points that night with three boards and six assists.
The Lakers wouldn’t mind a vintage James performance later at Crypto.com Arena as they are just 1-3 in their last four games.
