Dundee Beat Clan for Perfect Opening Weekend | Pro hockey news

Dundee Stars made it an unbeaten opening weekend with a 6–2 home victory on the Glasgow -Clan, and followed their 7-4 victory in Belfast 24 hours earlier.

“I think we have a loudly team, we are difficult to play against, play in the right way and not turning pucks while we stick to our systems,” said Matt Boudens over the second victory of the stars in so many nights. “I think we can be successful and we showed that the first weekend.”

The visitors first only hit 1:40 when Miihkali Teppo fired a loose puck along Jarrett Fiske after Deven Sideroff wore it to the net with a handy movement to avoid a star defender.

Justin Bean immediately made a drop -pass from Morten Jürgens at the top of the circle and shot a wrist shot past Sami Aittokallio for his second goal of the weekend. Less than two minutes later, Ben Almquist Dundee gave their first lead, skated in the clanzone and defeated Aittokallio to make it 2-1 at 7:00.

Glasgow quickly hit back. After a first shot from the point was saved by Fiske, Tristin Langan was the first to go to the Loose Puck and moved home to bind the game at 2-2 at 9:45.

The second period started with long-term pressure from the clan, including a five-on-three advantage, but it was Dundee who struck the next one. A strong zone entry by Kamon Kielly created a two-on-one, and Keanu Yamamoto ended at 27:53 a highlight of his knees of his knees to place the stars in front.

Only 91 seconds later Kris Inglis achieved 4-2 with his first goal since the 2022/23 season, a shot from the wall that found itself along Aittokallio. At 33:35 Yamamoto struck again, collecting a pass from Otto Nieminen and shoots past the Blocker of Aittokallio to bring 5-2. That goal led to a target change, where Lucas replaced Brine Aittokallio.

“It wasn’t our best game, we know we have an identity and it wasn’t at all,” said Clank captain Deven Sideroff. “We just have some things to work on and we didn’t play our game at all.

“There are some positives to build on this weekend, but there is a lot of work that we have to do in the coming days before we play Manchester in our Home League opener.”

A tough third period saw the chances at both ends when the clan tried to set up a late comeback, but Fiske stood for a long time and turned everything in its power. Hampus Olsson closed the score at 58:37 with a shot from the circle that bounced over Pekel, a 6-2 victory and a perfect opening weekend for the star sealed.

Concluded Boudens: “We just stick to our roads. Yesterday we had seven different target scorers, so if we can keep track of that during the season, our powerplay is also clicked, so from one line to the fourth that we have been able to produce. So I think if you can do that during a season, you are successful.”
