Chelsea established the unlikely Premier League record against Man Utd

Everything that could go wrong for Chelsea went against Man Utd in the first half while setting a new Premier League record on Saturday evening.

With the Red Devils in disorder under manager Ruben Amorim, this fixture would have been seen as a perfect opportunity to achieve their first victory in Old Trafford in 12 years.

But the wheels came quickly when Robert Sanchez Bryan Mbeumo kicked his leg in an attempt to remove the ball just outside the box. Referee Peter Bankes considered it a denial of a chance to score goal and sent the goalkeeper for an early shower, just four minutes after the game started.

Enzo Maresca responded by making a double replacement, which is usually not seen after a red card, because Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto were replaced by goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and Tosin Adarabioyo.

Within ten minutes after broadcasting, United made their benefits counting when Bruno Tappen up close. The blues thought they could get a delay when the playmaker looked like he was in an offside position, but the rear foot of Trevoh Chalobah kept him. It was a milestone goal for the 31-year-old, his 100th for the club at the age of 200.

Maresca felt the need to make another change and made the bizarre decision to turn off his star player while Cole Palmer made way for midfielder Andrey Santos. It is the first time ever that a team made no fewer than three replacements in the opening of 21 minutes of a Premier League match.

However, it did not come to the tide. United doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Luke Shaw drove a header in the direction of Casemiro for a new tap-in.

The chaotic nature of the opening half took place when the Brazilian was sent for downing Santos and earning his second booking of the competition.
