A new BBC report has named their latest Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week, with reasons explaining this Newcastle United player’s selection.
This is prior to midweek, the nineteenth round of the Premier League.
Newcastle United will take on Burnley on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
Eddie Howe and his Newcastle United players are looking to bounce back after Manchester United won 1-0 on Boxing Day.
United were the dominant team but somehow failed to score, while Man U conceded a goal in the 24th minute thanks to a poorly defended corner, after which they (Man U) ended up spending almost the entire second half defending.
BBC sports journalist Thomas Woods makes his picks for the Fantasy Premier League team of the week, including an explanation of the Newcastle United player he has selected and who looks set to face Burnley.
BBC Sports Fantasy Premier League team of the week (their fantasy football price/value detailed, plus who they’re playing against) ahead of the weekend:
Goalkeeper and defense
John Victor, Nottingham Forest, goalkeeper, £4 million – Everton (you)
Nikola Milenkovic, Nottingham Forest, £5.1m – Everton (u)
Patrick Dorgu, Manchester United, £4.1m – Wolves (h)
Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace, £5.2m – Fulham (h)
Lewis Hall, Newcastle, £5.2m – Burnley (a)
Hall has played six of the past seven games against Newcastle and has emerged as a key source of attack, just as he was last season before being injured.
In that time he has had eight shots, made five substitutions and created two big chances.
He passed the eye test against Manchester United in their last match, taking up many threatening positions and could have scored.
Burnley, on the other hand, have failed to find the net in four of their past five home games, so a clean sheet is also a real possibility.
Midfielders
Matheus Cunha (captain), Manchester United, £8.1 million – Wolves (h)
Florian Wirtz, Liverpool, £8.1m – Leeds (hour)
Rayan Cherki, Manchester City, £6.7m – Sunderland (a)
Garnacho Alejando, Chelsea, £6.4m – Bournemouth (u)
Attackers
Erling Haaland, Manchester City, £15.1 million – Sunderland (a)
Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool, £9.1m – Leeds (hour)
At Old Trafford, Lewis Hall was by far the best player on the pitch, including being Newcastle United’s biggest threat going forward.
Hall is an elite player, so talented that he will be greatly missed when he is injured.
