Buy this custom Dodge Viper ACR Roadster and I’ll meet you in Valhalla – Jalopnik

For most car buyers, comfort, reliability, fuel economy, convenience and safety are usually about as important as it gets. That makes sense when you consider that 99% of driving is just boring commuting or running errands. They just want a car that works, that will keep them safe in the event of an accident, and that won’t cost them an arm and a leg to stay on the road. And if you look at cars the same way, you probably don’t understand the appeal of the Dodge Viper.

However, a certain kind of person looks at the Viper and thinks, “Okay, that’s great, but can you make it less comfortable?” That’s where the Viper ACR comes into the picture. It’s still street legal, but it’s also about as track-oriented as Dodge can make it, and in the right hands it’ll set some ridiculously fast lap times. Chances are your hands aren’t the right hands, but neither are mine. It’s fine. I’m sure it’s good. It’s not like the Viper has a reputation for being difficult to drive or anything.

However, the Viper you see here is no ordinary Viper ACR. These cars each had a roof that provided some protection in the event of a rollover. The Viper ACR which is currently for sale on Cars & Bidson the other hand, it doesn’t have that roof. Instead, it’s one of twenty Viper ACRs that the folks at Woodhouse Dodge have converted into Viper ACR Roadsters. That’s great, because if I know you have one complaint about the Viper ACR, it’s that it’s too safe. But if you buy this one, you can listen to the wail of that naturally aspirated V10, completely uninterrupted by all that ‘roof’ nonsense.

I also like the yellow and black paint a lot more than I thought. A lot of yellow and black cars look like something a Georgia Tech graduate would have ordered, but this one actually looks great. Plus, no Georgia Tech graduate buys a Dodge Viper, let alone a Viper ACR Roadster, so if you show up somewhere driving this thing, I don’t think you’re in any risk of anyone mistaking you for a total dork unless you also show up wearing an Omega Speedmaster. With this car you will be the cool kid everywhere, and that is well deserved. You know you want to buy it.

Others may not be able to handle the Viper ACR, but I’m built differently. I could totally handle owning a 600 hp roadster with no safety features other than a seat belt.
