To Social Media Platform Instagram, Shukla shared an emotional post that memories of memories about his journey and the excitement of a meeting with friends and family.
“While I’m on the plane to come back to India, I have a mix of emotions that run through my heart. I feel sad and leaves a fantastic group of people behind my friends and family during this mission,” Shukla wrote.
“I am also enthusiastic about meeting all my friends, family and everyone in the country for the first time after the mission. I think this is what life is – everything in one go,” he added.
In June, Shukla became the first Indian to reach the international space station (ISS). He returned on July 15, after an 18-day mission, which was full of various experiments led by Isro and other activities at the Orbital Lab. Since then he has been undergoing rehabilitation in the US.
Shukla stated that he was impatiently waiting to reach the country and share his experiences that will be valuable to India’s future space – efforts, especially the Gaganyan – India’s first human space mission, which focuses on a launch by 2027.
“After having received incredible love and support from everyone during and after the mission, I can’t wait to come back to India to share my experiences with you all,” Shukla said.
Looking back on his colleagues, Shukla noted that although “saying goodbye to difficult”, “we have to keep moving in life”.
He also shared valuable advice from his commander, NASA Astronaut Peggy Whitson: “The only constant in space travel is change”.
Suppose he ‘believes it also applies to life’, Shukla shared a song from the Bollywood film Swades, ‘at the end of the day yun hello chala chala rahi – jevan gaadi hai samay pahiya (loosely translated as just walking, traveler – life is a wheel)’ ..
In the meantime, his family also expressed excitement about meeting him after his successful space mission.
“I am very excited. My son has successfully completed his mission and has returned. We are very excited that my son is coming back. We try to meet him as soon as possible. He will come in the day after tomorrow and we will meet him in Delhi,” Shukla’s father, Shammu Dayal Shakla, told Ians.
Minister Jitendra Singh at the Union said on Thursday that the captain of the IAF group Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet in Delhi before he travels to his hometown Lucknow to see his family.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the mission and said that Shukla inspired a billion dreams and has taken an important step in promoting India’s space ambitions.
