Greatest strength: defense
Kansas City missed offensive explosiveness last season, but the team’s defense was in the task. The chiefs earned the second highest pff-defending quality in the NFL, afterwards only their super bowl opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles. They give stars back at every level, including Chris Jones, Nick Bolton and Trent McDuffie, while Steve Spagnuolo may remain the best defensive playing caller in the competition.
Biggest weakness: attacking line
For the second time in five seasons, the biggest question mark of the Chiefs is their attacking line. Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith are two excellent interior players, but Kansas City must improve both tackle places and left guard. The first round Rookie Josh Simmons seems to take over at the left tackle. This unit was in 19th place in Pff Pass-Blocking figure and committed the second fines in the NFL last season. They have to improve to reach the team to reach its fourth consecutive Super Bowl.
Quarterback Spotlight: Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes continued to win with the same conservative approach he used since the Chiefs Tyreek Hill exchanged before the 2022 season. He placed the third lowest average target in the NFL last season. That approach, combined with its lack of explosive weapons, delivered Mahomes a career-loage 3.4% large throw. He continues to find ways to win narrow games, especially with his timely hasty skills, but the chiefs would certainly like to be more explosive in the passing competition this season.
Offensive player: C Creed Humphrey
There may be no NFL player who is more clearly the best in their position than Creed Humphrey. Under centers to play at least 300 snaps in 2024, Humphrey’s 92.4 pff general figure defeated the next best player with more than six points. He and the Jordan Mailata from Philadelphia were the only attacking rulers that earned 90.0 PFF pass blocking and run-blocking figures last season. On the way to only his fifth season, Humphrey is already one of the highest centers in the PFF history.
Defensive player: Di Chris Jones
Jones is a future Hall of Famer who continued to dominate as a pass Rusher in 2024. He led all interior defenders with 88 editions last year, including the late season. His 91.5 PFF Passrush degree was only Milton Williams from Philadelphia at the back for the League-Lead. It was the sixth time in the last seven seasons that Jones earned at least a pass-rushy figure of 90.0 Pff. Only 31 years old, Jones is one of the most feared pass Rushers of the game.
Rookie to look: t Josh Simmons
Few attacking tackles will be investigated heavier in 2025 than Josh Simmons. He will be accused of protecting the blind side of Patrick Mahomes after Chiefs was last arranged in the Pff-Pass blocking degree last season. Fortunately, Simmons earned an excellent 82.0 Pff Pass-Blocking figure while in 2024 he only allowed one edition in Ohio State. The reservation is that he played less than six full matches before he sustained a seasonal knee injury, so his recovery will be remarkable because he adapts to the NFL competition.
Fantasy Spotlight: WR Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs
Rice slowly but surely worked his way to the top of the Chief’s depth card as a Rookie and was more often than not a worthy fantasy starter after the first month of the 2024 season. He was on a pace to be a competition winner before a torn LCL cost him the rest of the campaign. He will probably also be suspended at a certain point in 2025.
Rice will be confronted with more competition for goals of an improved Xavier -worthy and a healthy Hollywood -brown. He has a top of the top 10, but can also fall on the back of the goalkeeping order, making it more difficult to start it.
Best bet: Wrquise Brown To receive more than 525.5 with yards (-110)
The debut of Kansas City by Brown only took place last season in week 16 – and it did not move the needle as many had expected. With another low season in the books to recover and build chemistry with Patrick Mahomes, Brown will hit the ground in 2025. His average target of 12.2 meters over his last two full seasons should help him to collect the Brokwerf while stretching the field.
Bottom Line
The core of the Chiefs is still intact – Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and a great defense. They are the best situational football team in the competition, which went 12-0 last season in one-score matches. That can deteriorate, but it is still difficult not to see the chiefs as Prime AFC opportunities, given their success in the Mahomes era.
