“You should probably ask the selectors what they think” – Karun Nair gives disappointment after West Indies Test Series Snub

Karun Nair Made an international comeback after an absence of eight years during the Anderson-Detulkar trophy, which was disputed between India and England in the United Kingdom. He played four of the five tests and scored only 205 points on an average of 25.62. The right -handed seizure was given opportunities in different places in the battle order, but failed to leave a stamp. However, he received half a century in the first innings of the fifth test in the Kennnington Oval, a match that won the tourists with six points to deliver the series 2-2.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced the team of India for the next two-match Home Test Series against the West Indies. Nair, who recently returned to Karnataka after spending two seasons in Vidarbha, was one of the remarkable absent. Speaking of Nair’s omission, Agarkar said that the selectors and team management wanted more of him on the tour of England.

“To be honest, we expected a little more from Karun. He played four tests and you spoke about one innings. That’s how we feel that Padikkal is offering a little more right now. I wish we could give everyone 15-20 tests,” said Agarkar in the press conference.

Nair, however, admitted that he was surprised not to find his name in the team. He emphasized that in the first innings of the oval test on India he scored a top and contributed to the victory of the team.

“Yes, I expected the selection. I don’t know what to say. No words. I don’t have many comments to make. It’s very difficult for me to answer,” he told The Times of India.

“You would probably have to ask the selectors what they think. The only thing is that I scored a fifty in the last test match when no one else knew in the first innings. So I thought I contributed to the team, especially in the last game we won. But yes, it is. Those things don’t matter.

The first test between India and West -India will be played from 2 October in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the meantime, the second test is planned at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi between 10 October to 14 October.
