WPL 2026 Schedule Navi Mumbai Vadodara – Full Matches and Venues
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled for an exciting fourth edition in 2026, with the tournament taking place from January 9 to February 5. This season will be held in two locations: Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, marking a shift from the traditional February-March window. So let’s have a look at WPL 2026 Schedule Navi Mumbai Vadodara.
Why the scheme was advanced
The WPL is usually played in February and March. However, this year the schedule has been pushed forward to accommodate the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which starts on February 7.
To avoid clashes with the global event and to ensure maximum viewership for both tournaments, the BCCI decided to delay the preparation of the WPL by almost a month.
Official announcement from the WPL President
WPL chairman Jayesh George, during the WPL 2026 Auctionofficially confirmed the locations and dates.
He announced that:
The first half of the tournament will be held in Navi Mumbai at the DY Patil Stadium.
The second half, including the grand final on February 5, will be played in Vadodara.
The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai recently took on historical significance after it hosted the match that saw India lift the Women’s ODI World Cup earlier this month, making it a fitting venue to kick off the new WPL season.
Caravan format continues for WPL 2026
Like previous editions, the competition will follow the caravan model:
Matches are first played entirely in one city.
Halfway through, the entire competition shifts to another city.
This format is appreciated for reducing travel fatigue among players and ensuring more stable audience attendance.
Mumbai Indians want to defend their title
Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, will participate in WPL 2026 with an aim to extend their dominance.
The franchise has been one of the most consistent performers since the league’s inception, winning multiple titles in its first three seasons.
With new selections from the latest mega auction and teams looking stronger than ever, the competition is expected to be fierce.
What can you expect this season
The 2026 season promises:
- A short but intensive schedule
- New rivalry after the mega auction gave the team combinations a new shape
- Full stadiums in two cricket-loving cities
- Renewed enthusiasm after India’s recent World Cup win
