World number 1 Jackson Koivun is one of the invitees for the Walker Cup practice session

Seven of the 10 US Walker Cup team members from this year’s victory over Cypress Point have been included for the upcoming practice session ahead of next year’s Walker Cup in Lahinch.

The practice session will take place December 18-20 at Seminole Golf Club, McArthur Golf Club and Jupiter Hills Club in South Florida. A total of 18 players were invited and accepted their invitation.

Among the invitees is world No. 1 Jackson Koivun, a junior at Auburn who has already completed his PGA Tour through the PGA Tour University Accelerated program. Koivun can choose to turn pro after either of the next two NCAA Championships and complete his season-and-a-half membership. He’s still undecided about his plans, but accepting a spot in the practice session certainly means he’s at least considering remaining an amateur for another year.

There will be three mid-amateurs in attendance: five-time Walker Cupper Stewart Hagestad, along with Evan Beck and Bobby Massa. There will also be four high school players in attendance: Mason Howell, the reigning U.S. Amateur champion who made his Walker Cup debut this year, plus Miles Russell, Luke Colton and Tyler Watts.
