Quarterback
Start: Jared Goff
Jared Goff’s explosive assessment
“One more home game, one more starting advice for Jared Goff” is what you would expect. But believe it or not, the Lions quarterback is pretty right home/away splits this season so far. Either way, Goff’s match next Thursday is a little too juicy to mention.
The Lions host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, giving each team a full week to prepare after hosting their usual Thanksgiving Day games last week. Despite the Cowboys’ new winning ways, they are still a matchup to target in fantasy, perhaps even more so than before. With their offense recently kicking things into high gear, thanks in large part to the emergence of George Pickens, the Cowboys will likely push opposing offenses to keep up. Expect some fireworks on Thursday evening this week.
Honorable Mention: Jordan Love

Sits: Jacoby Brissett
It was a remarkable performance for the veteran backup, who has been a fantasy QB1 since taking over for Kyler Murray in Week 6. During that time, however, he has only played against a top-10 defense once. That was the Packers, who allowed the sixth-fewest points per game to opposing quarterbacks in Week 7. He still managed a QB12 finish that week, but he was sacked six times and held under 300 yards rushing.
This week, Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The Rams allow it seventh-least points per game to opposing quarterbacks and have forced 10 turnovers in the past five games. After getting beat by the Carolina Panthers last week, look early and often for the Rams defense to get behind Brissett and Co. to arrive.
Honorable mention: Daniel Jones
Run back
Start: Omarion Hampton

Omarion Hampton’s athletic profile
At the time of writing, star rookie Omarion Hampton is expected to make his return Monday night when the Chargers host the Philadelphia Eagles. He hasn’t played since Week 5, when he broke his left ankle.
Meanwhile, the bears run back smothered this Philadelphia defense last week. While it was a season high in rushing yards that Philly gave up by a stretch, struggling against the run isn’t new for this group. They have allowed at least 100 yards in all but three games this year, a far cry from last year when they had seven such games so far in the season.
We should be more than confident that we can include Hampton in our lineups if he is active. If he doesn’t happen to be, Kimani Vidal would be a strong RB2 option.
Honorable Mentions: RJ Harvey, Jaylen Warren
Seat: Woody Marks
We have to go back to Week 10 to find the last time the rookie posted double-digit fantasy scoring. Last week, Woody Marks’ snap share fell to 53.9%, his lowest since Week 9. Between the volume concerns and poor offensive line play, the former Trojan is having a terrible game this week.
The Texans travel to Arrowhead this week on Sunday night to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs allowed it sixth-least fantasy points per game for opposing running backs. Look for KC defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to come up with an effective plan for this primetime showdown as the Chiefs look to make their playoff run.
Honorable Mentions: Zonovan Knight, Aaron Jones
Wide receiver
Start: DK Metcalf
DK Metcalf has had a relatively easy first season so far with Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, entering Week 14 as the WR27 of the year in PPR ratings. He hasn’t crossed the 20-point threshold since Week 4, when he secured one of his two WR1 finishes as the WR7. I’m not writing this to tell you he’s about to post another WR1 week, but he could start this week in your WR2 slot with some growth potential.
In Week 14, the Steelers visit the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. The Ravens are coming off a tough loss on Thanksgiving night against another division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. This game against the Ravens has some serious implications for the playoffs; these teams will come out swinging. And the Ravens give the in tenth place points per game for opposing wideouts. As the undisputed alpha and target leader (24 goals more than the No. 2 goal scorer in his team), expect the sixth-year pro to get substantial chances this week in a match that could yield big wins.
Honorable Mentions: Zay Flowers, Courtland Sutton
Sits: Khalil Shakir
After posting just one goal in a plus game with the Steelers last week, Khalil Shakir and the Bills will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. The Bengals, while they stepped up as an entire defense with a strong performance against the Ravens last week, have been stingy against wide receivers for most of the season. In fact, they give up sixth-least fantasy points per game for the position. The Bills will attack the Bengals by leaning on their solid run game and attacking through the tight end position in the air. The Bengals rank last in defending the tight end position based on fantasy points per game. Considering he’ll be facing the toughest part of the Bengals’ weak defense, Shakir is a Sit this week.
Honorable Mentions: Devonta Smith, Terry McLaurin
Tight end
Start: Brenton Strange

Efficiency statistics from Brenton Strange
After posting a TE7 finish in PPR last week, Brenton Strange enters Week 14 as our seventh tight end. This week’s matchup? The Indianapolis Colts. The Colts give up third most PPR points per game for opposing tight ends. Look for beleaguered quarterback Trevor Lawrence to look at his most reliable target in clutch moments on Sunday.
Honorable mention: Kyle Pitts
Sits: Evan Engram
I know, Evan Engram had a fun match last week. He posted his first TE1 finish since Week 4. But let’s be careful not to chase the points here. Engram has been wildly inconsistent all year. This isn’t the tight end we need as we fight for our lives in the playoffs (or for a first-round bye, well done!).
Engram’s Week 14 opponent, the Las Vegas Raiders, have been surprisingly effective at limiting the production of opposing tight ends, limiting the third least PPR points per game by position. Let’s leave Engram on waivers where he belongs.
Honorable mention: AJ Barner
That’s all for this week!
As always, thanks for reading.
I’ll be back next week to discuss our matchups for ROUND ONE of the fantasy playoffs!
Feel free to hit me up X, Instagramor Blue sky to let me know if you agree or disagree, or to share your own setup dilemmas!
Many successes,
Kyle
