I will break the most important start and sit decisions on the defensive line (DL), Linebacker (LB) and Defensive Back (DB) positions to help you take that difficult line -up decisions. We will continue to offer our Premium Position Competitions a streaming option at Defensive Tackle (DT) and Cornerback (CB). We conclude with the Hidden IDP Gems, a collection of six crucial insights that you can give the lead on your weekly matchups.
These start and sit recommendations will be based on the preferred score of Dynasty Nerds that can be found in my article ‘How to play IDP’ from this season.

Players to start Week 1
Byron Young | DL | Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams have invested heavily in their defensive line in the last few designs, and it paid off in a large way last season. Three players finished in the top 24 of the DL last season. Byron Young Had a surprisingly good season, ending as DL21 while he placed a career high in tackles (62) and tackles for loss (12). The Rams Pass Rusher also ended with 7.5 bags and a 66.0 Pass Rush figure, 67th of 210 qualifying edge defenders.
With the young, explosive Pass -Rushers of the Rams who are confronted with an offensive line in Houston Texans that was allowed in 30th place in bags per match (3.4) last season, Byron Young has a promising chance for a big week 1 to start the season at home against a Texans attack, attack, attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack attack, attack. CJ Stroud. This is a starting decision that you can be optimistic about.
Quay Walker | LB | Green Bay Packers
Many IDP managers leave Quay walker For dead afterwards Edgerrin Cooper Last season arose as a green Rookie from Green Bay. How quickly we forget the former product of the University of Georgia has three consecutive 100-Tackle seasons while you do not yet play a full season of 17 games. Walker has struggled with injuries and even suspensions during his young career, but the facts are that when he is on the field, he is a top 12 -linebacker of fantasy football.
Quay Walker was very consistent last season. In just 13 games played, he finished as the LB27. The Green Bay LB ended with double -digit fantasy points in 84.61% of his games. Walker is a must-start against the Division Rival Detroit Lions this week. He has succeeded against them with 59 total tackles of more than six games, including a 19-Tackle game in 2023. I love Edgerrin Cooper as everyone, but Quay Walker is guaranteed to be fantasy production when he is healthy and looks ready to help lead the season.
Taron Johnson | DB | Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most consistent defenses in recent seasons. They depend on their defensive back to play disciplined football and make tackles. No player has done that better for the Buffalo defense than Johnson Conference. The former Weber State product has played more than 84% of defensive snaps since the 2020 season.
Although Johnson plays his lowest defensive Snap share (84%) and his lowest number of matches (12) started since the 2020 season, he still had an average of 14.67 fantasy points per match (FPPG). Johnson’s reliability is healthy again and is confronted with a powerful Baltimore Ravens attack, a top 10 matchup for opposing defensive backs last season. This is a starting decision that you should fulfill with confidence.
Gervon Dexter | DT | Chicago Bears
This week I have a solid streaming option for you in those IDP competitions that require a starting defense equipment (DT). Gervon Dexter Does his third season with the Chicago Bears. He has raised his tackles for loss, bags and QB during his first two seasons.
In his only match against the Minnesota Vikings, he collected five tackles. Last season, the Vikings were three bags per game on the road. Gervon Dexter has a great opportunity to have a solid start and this season to be a player to focus in DT Premium Leagues.
Jarvis Brownlee | CB | Tennessee Titans
The defense of the Tennessee Titans does not offer much for IDP managers. However, in week 1, Jarvis Brownlee is a streaming option. The Titans CB collected 75 tackles and 7 tackles for loss in his first season with the Titans.
The defense will have his hands full with an opening match against the Denver Broncos. Brownlee finished last season as a DB70 with an average of 10 FPPG. He ended with double -digit fantasy points in 47% of his start last season.

Players to sit Week 1
Carl Granderon | DL | New Orleans Saints
As you know from the past years, I don’t enjoy the negative talk about players, but someone must be in the SIT recommendations. Carl Granderon Never fully realized the hype that he received after his breakout season in 2023. During his career he has been a low-end DL2 and high-end DL3. That’s fine, but sometimes he becomes a matchup-dependent starter for IDP Fantasy Football.
The Arizona Cardinals are a heavy matchup for opposite Pass Rushers. Last season they allow the fifth pockets in the NFL. The matchup and a potential crooked score in favor of the cardinals can make this a game with less passtrushing opportunities than expected for the defenders of the saints.
Tyrel Dodson | LB | Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins open their season against the Indianapolis Colts and new starting quarterback Daniel Jones. This game has the potential to be an attacking shootout. A player to mark is veteran lb TyEL DODSON. He finished as LB32 last season and played for both Seattle and Miami.
The Indianapolis Colts were one of the worst league matches for opposite LBS in 2024, and if the LB2 of the dolphins this is not an ideal matchup for Dodson. I would not completely fade him in this situation, but if there is a better option in your selection, I would feel safer with that.
Dshon Elliott | DB | Team name
It is difficult to start the season and recommends the DB13 in general last season, but here we are. Dshon Elliott Had a great season, on average 17 FPPG, the sixth of each db. Elliott placed three games of 20 points or more and waved a few matchups in favor of IDP managers who had him in their setup.
The jets were a bottom-6 matchup for opposite safety last season. I love Dshon Elliott, but IDP managers would be wise to look for a better matchup this week.
Hidden IDP precious stones
- The Denver Broncos led the NFL with 63 bags and had three dl in the top 20 in general.
- Bobby Wagner Seems to break the NFL record for consecutive seasons 100-tackle (14)
- Tyler Nubin posted five 20-point performance in 2024. Most of Elke Rookie DB.
- Will McDonald Last season was 1 of the 17 players with 10+ bags, the only player who did it with less than 30 tackles.
- Zaire Franklin Led the NFL in Tackles (173) and Missed Tackles (24) in 2024.
- Budda Baker Finished as the DB1 last season despite allowing the 2nd Most TouchDowns and the recording of zero under -scoops.
