Pakistan will all be confronted with Afghanistan and the VAE in a Tri series, starting on Friday 29 August in the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Salman Ali Agha Will lead the men in green because they want to build some momentum for the Asia Cup 2025, which will start on September 9.
Prior to the first match of the Tri series between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Agha addressed the media in a press conference. Afghanistan Captain Rashid Khan and the VAE skipper Muhammad Wasem were also present at the event. A reporter asked the Talismanic Afghan all-rounder about the plans for the approaching assignment while referring to the Blue Tigers as the second best team in the continent on the back of their impressive T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, in which they qualified for the semi-final.
The reporter’s question seemed to surprise Agha, which caused a shift in his facial expressions that were followed by a grin. This happened fairly quickly, but fans managed to take it into account. They shared close-up photos of Agha’s expression change on social media.

Afghanistan has lately been really impressive in ICC events. They ended with the same number of points as Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023, and even defeated the former champions in a one-sided match in the Round-Robin phase in Chennai. In the World Cup 2024 T20 the men in Green did not pass the first round after the suffering of defeats for India and Debutants USA. Afghanistan, on the other hand, reached the final and defeated top teams such as Nieuw -Zeeland and Australia.
Afghanistan made their Champions Trophy debut earlier this year. They managed to beat England, but could not reach the semi -final of a heavy group. On the other hand, Pakistan did not succeed in winning a match in the tournament. The two teams could face each other three times in the Tri series in the coming days. With regard to the Asia Cup, they are placed in different groups.
