Four players shared the opening round of the inaugural Coal India Open in Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Noida GC’s Amardep Malik, Anshul Kabthiyal from Aepta, Delhi and Chandigarh’s Angad Cheema and Karandep Kochhar, little rust from the summer vacation and the Pgti of Aepta, Delhi and Chandigarh and were 3 under 69s, said the PGTI.

“I hardly missed a green today when I hit the ball well. The well was also good with the only blek that the three-putt for Bogey was on the sixth,” said Kabthiyal.
Best moment
“My best moment today was a recovery for Birdie on 14 after landing my T -shirt in the trees.
“I have worked a lot on my way of thinking during the break in the middle season and I hope this will make a big difference in my game.”
Cheema, winner of the last event prior to the break and a consistent performer through the season, had a quiet front nine with pars completely before he shot in five birdies and a double bogey.
Cheema, currently 10one On the PGTI order of merit said: “After a good first half of the season, this round gives me a great opportunity to spend the momentum to the second half.”
Amardeeep Malik mixed five birdies with two bogeys during his opening round. “I am very happy with today’s efforts. I did not expect that I would be in the lead with a score with three below,” he said later.
“The highlight of the round must be the 50-foot that I sunk for Birdie on the fifth. The high scores are a reflection of how tough the greens play here in Kensville.”
Ahmedabad’s Varun Parikh shot a 74 to be placed 32ND As the best placed from the local golfers.
