Anderson Silva is poised to reach new heights outside of combat sports. Silva recently shared plans to pursue a career as a police officer with the California Police Department. ‘Spider’ has since shared footage of his police training on Instagram.
A new challenge
“There will be days when fatigue, pain, insecurities, my imperfections and fear will knock on the door wanting to get in, but I won’t allow it, even when there seems to be no way out, when everything is foggy, everything seems lost,” Silva wrote in the caption of the video. “I will not back down because my faith is in GOD and my fight to keep trying to be better than yesterday is eternal. Even if the weather is bad all the time, I will be there unapologetically, ready to…”
Silva (34-11) is widely considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. The Brazilian had a sixteen-fight winning streak in the UFC, including ten middleweight title defenses. Silva retired from the UFC in 2020, but continued to compete in boxing matches. Silva knocked out fellow UFC veteran Tyron Woodley in Miami last month. Silva then announced plans to pursue police training with the Beverly Hills Police Department. The Brazilian native, who lives in California, sees it as his opportunity to give back to the United States.
