Tata Steel Q3 update: Production increases 12% year-on-year, leading to best-ever quarterly deliveries

Steel giant Tata Steel achieved its highest-ever quarterly crude steel production of 6.34 million tonnes in the third quarter, with sequential production growth of 12% year-on-year, mainly led by higher output at its Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar plants. The production improvement also led to the company’s best-ever quarterly deliveries as Tata Steel India crossed the 6 million tonne mark for the first time.Deliveries to India rose 9% quarter-on-quarter and 14% year-on-year, helped by strong sales in the domestic market.

For 9MFY26, production rose 6% y-o-y to Rs 17.2 million tonnes, while deliveries rose 6% y-o-y to 16.3 million tonnes, Tata Steels informed the stock exchanges.

Key highlights in the third quarter of domestic deliveries

Automotive & special products vertical achieved ‘best ever’ volumes of 0.9 million tonnes. Third quarter volumes rose 20% year-on-year, helped by rapid approvals by OEMs for high-strength grades from downstream facilities in Kalinganagar and for specialty steel from the combination plant in Jamshedpur.

The Branded Products & Retail industry crossed the 2 million tonne mark for the first time, with volumes growing 12% year-on-year in the third quarter, driven by the performance of renowned brands such as Tata Tiscon, Tata Astrum and Tata Steelium.


The Industrial Products & Projects vertical achieved volumes of 1.9 million tonnes, helped by the performance of value-added segments such as engineering.

The company’s Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), from e-commerce platforms Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA, stood at Rs 2,380 crores for the quarter, up 68% year-on-year.

International affairs

Tata Steel Netherlands’ liquid steel production in Q3 26 was 1.68 million tonnes and deliveries were 1.40 million tonnes. Seasonal factors and subdued market dynamics led to lower quarterly deliveries.

Tata Steel UK, which serves its customers through downstream processing of purchased substrate, recorded deliveries of 0.52 million tonnes in the third quarter.

During the quarter, Tata Steel Thailand’s salable steel production was 0.31 million tonnes and deliveries were 0.29 million tonnes. Deliveries improved 5% year-on-year, mainly due to strong domestic rebar sales.
