As winners of the domestic cup and qualifications of the Champions League, the attraction of member of Newcastle United should have been high this summer at a long time.
But worries outside the field have hindered us in ways that we might not have imagined at the beginning of May.
A lack of clear organization and vision of that above and around Eddie Howe has damaged how many players, including our own Alexander Isak, who started the project, it seems.
Fortunately, to the great relief of Howe, the hanging agreements of a new sports director and Chief Executive Officer should get things back in order, with David Hopkinson (CEO) and Ross Wilson (sports director) to arrive shortly after signing PIF.
Before the season ended in May, Eddie Howe encouraged the club to act quickly.
However, after we have seen the speed in which we actually continued with important movements on and next to the field, the Gaffer insists that the right people have to arrive to replace Paul Mitchell and Darren Eales:
“It is really important that we fill those positions as quickly as possible, but also with the best possible people,”
“Again, I would probably encourage the club to make the right decision about the speed, because the long term is the most important thing for Newcastle.”
For Wilson (Nottingham Forest) and Hopkinson (ex-real Madrid), it is the first to be HOWE particularly happy to get in.
It is said that they are involved in the recruitment process, Howe and Wilson reportedly have on large conditions with each other as individuals.
Compared to the icy relationship that Howe had with the previous sports director Paul Mitchell, and just everyone who sings the same hymnel, would be a great start of Wilson’s term of office.
According to the Craig Hope of the post, the threatening arrivals from Wilson and Hopkinson will have to be confirmed soon.
Because it seems that the relationships between the players and the club itself have become ‘weaker’ this season, and the pair may have to do well to work in repairing bridges in the club.
Hope writes that during the week before the final of the Carabao Cup: “Players were surprised when none of the hierarchy came to visit them on the training field.”
Given what we now know about Alexander Isak, who reportedly felt insulted by his treatment by people like Paul Mitchell and his wage increase Debacle, the club must desperately destroy any idea of a ‘we’ and they can develop as they are as they are.
The lack of leaders and significant authority probably came to us at the worst moment, but the new CEO and sports director, in combination with Howe who remains in place, should return the ship in the direction of the biggest campaign in years.
