Multiple Trust Wallet users have experienced unauthorized withdrawals in recent hours as assets were drained from their addresses without approval, taking more than $7 million, according to blockchain researcher ZachXBT.
However, the occurrence and timing of the incident have raised concerns since it followed a recent update to Trust Wallet’s Chrome extension that was released on December 24.
Data shows a huge number of transfers between affected wallets, with a spike in activity for several hours after updates are rolled out.
According to Trust Wallet, the incident only affected browser extension version 2.68 and users were advised to disable it and upgrade to 2.69 immediately.
However, mobile-only users and all other extension versions are unaffected.
