Today marks four years since Eddie Howe played for Newcastle United.
The big man will start at St James’ Park on November 8, 2021.
What four years it has been!
Eddie Howe watched his first match against Newcastle United from a hotel room after contracting Covid, a 3-3 draw against Brentford at St James’ Park.
Tomorrow United play Brentford again, this time away, the first game of his fifth year in charge.
Here are my top ten moments of Eddie Howe at Newcastle United so far.
In no particular order, well, sort of…
Liverpool 1 Newcastle 2 (March 16, 2025)
It has to be that way, doesn’t it?
Eddie Howe led United to their first trophy in 56 years AND they dominated Liverpool at Wembley.
Newcastle 0 Leicester 0 (22 May 2023)
United defeated the Foxes on their way to the Championship.
Yet only a goalless draw in this last home game of the 2022/23 season.
Yet this was the point that made it mathematically certain that Eddie Howe’s NUFC would return to the Champions League after an absence of more than two decades.
January 7, 2022
The first Eddie Howe season and perhaps the best yet.
Kieran Trippier was fantastic for Newcastle United and helped pave the way for so many other extraordinary signings.
How did he do that?
Eddie Howe joined Newcastle mid-season in search of relegation guarantees, but the second half of the 2021/22 season saw United achieve their third-best Premier League form over the course of the final 19 PL games of that season.
November 4, 2023
Newcastle deservedly won the match 1-0, but the behavior of Mikel Arteta, his players and the club in general was absolutely appalling.
It reminds us all how lucky we are to have someone like Eddie Howe.
Newcastle 0 Everton 1 (May 25, 2025)
Beat at home to the Scouse Mackems, but what a party!
A trophy-winning season ends with a second Champions League qualification in three years.
8:19 PM on February 5, 2025
The moment we knew for sure Newcastle would return to Wembley.
After winning 2-0 at the Emirates, Jacob Murphy put United 1-0 ahead in the second leg against Arsenal, with an aggregate lead of 3-0.
Alexander Isaac
The way Eddie Howe has dealt with the mess caused by the Scouse rat is extraordinary.
Eddie has kept everything together despite so much pressure and refused to let Isak ruin this season.
A brilliant signing by Eddie Howe and him making a record Premier League sale to another PL club.

The best Champions League win under Eddie Howe so far…

When Eddie Howe speaks
Not a single moment, but so important: every time I hear Eddie Howe speak, I am proud that he is our manager.
What a great guy, full of integrity and talent.
