If you want to experience a pleasant town, you can visit Bosa cheaply in Sardinia. This is a colorful and incredibly charming city that offers everything, from attractions and cozy alleys to restaurants and beaches.
Bosa in Sardinia
Bosa is counted as one of “the most beautiful villages in Italy” and the only city in Sardinia is built on a river beach, more specifically on the Temu River.
Bosa is located on the northwestern part of Sardinia, about 46 kilometers south of Alghero.
Bosa – A city with long history
The area around Bosa has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as you know, because there are about several Nuraghe (Bronstijdoren) and Domus de Jan (Graves of even older times).
The city was probably founded once by the Fenicians, a small distance from where the city is today. The current city was founded in the 12th century by the Malaspina family, which also founded the mighty castle at the top of a height.

The city remained in the hands of Malaspina until the 13os, when it was taken over by Aragon, and later it was ruled with the rest of Sardinia by Spain. Nowadays the city and the island are part of Italy.

Forestness in Sardinia – A pleasant city to walk around
Bosa is an incredibly pleasant city to walk around. The alleys are tight, the facades are beautifully decorated and everywhere you are met by flowers and decorations.

The word “picturesque” fits nicely in almost every street corner, and it’s hard to stop photographing!

Attractions in Bosa
The first thing you have to notice while visiting Bosa is the powerful castle on a hill above the city. Bail, Saveravalle CastleIn 1112 the Malaspina family was founded and it is possible to walk up for many long stairs to look around the walls. We did not know this in the decreasing summer heat, so we sent the drone of Peter to take a photo instead.

If you want to view more attractions, there is, although the city is quite small, both churches and museums. Three churches to look at:
- Cathedral of the spotless coneration – on the Temu River, centrally in the city. Mix baroque and neo -classicism.
- Church of San Pietro Extramuros – Just outside the city center, along the river. Romanesque from around 1062.
- Church of our -lieve -woman of Regnos Altos – This church is located in Castello di Serra valley Castle.

If you feel like a museum visit instead, there are suggestions for three museums here:

- Museums Casa Deriu -City History Museum in a 19th -century house.
- Dei Museum (Garvarmuset) – With exhibitions about the student history of Bosa, which has long been an important industry.
- Atza Museum – Art museum with collections of both Sardin and international artists.

If you want to shop during your visit to Bosa or want to settle in a restaurant, there are numerous options. You will find many small stores with fashion, souvenirs, decor and the like.

There are also lots of cozy restaurants and tasty seats outside. We were satisfied with every ice, which was very good in the heat!

Flopes Temu
Clearly through Bosa runs a river, but the name Temu. Here is nice to walk and look at the view.

The marina and the beach in Bosa
In Bosa there is also a marina and a beach. We never visited the beach, but scored it from the car road and it looks nice.

Where can you live or stand at the camper?
We visited Bosa with a camper, and while we looked at the city, we parked a free parking on the Temu River (N 40 ° 17’43,8108 “E 8 ° 29’44.7756”), where you fit a camper. At night we opted for a simple and free grass parking just outside the central city (8, via Don Sturzo), where we stood with various other campers. Absolutely excellent!
The last time we were in Sardinia, that is, ten years ago, we stood for several nights at a campsite just north of Bosa, which we experienced as a strawberry place in Sardinia. This campsite seems to stay, although of course it may have changed.

More to see and in the neighborhood
Close to Bosa we can advise on visiting the Nuraghen Santu Antine – fascinating if you like history! If you go north, you can go to the city of Alghero with Neptune caves. If you go south from Bosa, there are many different beaches to discover!
