Summary
With Notepad you can now write Markdown without installing anything extra.
Use Toolsbar shortcuts to switch layout, switch display and layout when needed.
With the new memorandum you can write Markdown without installing anything. It works with normal text, keeps your syntax visible and formats whenever you want. One of the most important advantages of Markdown is how wide it is on all devices, operating systems and different apps. Here is how you can get started in a draft block.
Notepad is becoming increasingly capable
Notepad, which was once known as could get as clear as a text editor, has collected various new tricks with Windows 11, including AI integration, tabs and automatic storage of files.
One of the latest functions that Microsoft has rolled out is support for Markdown, a way to format text.
The new notebook makes it extremely easy to get started if you are not already familiar with manual writing.
Make sure the layout is switched on
To get started with Markdown in Kraftblok, ensure that layout is switched on. However, it should be standard as soon as the program is updated.
Open notepad. If the toolbar appears above the text area, the function is active.
If this is not the case, click the gear icon at the top right. Under preferences, search for and turn it on.
You can also update notepad via the Microsoft Store. Markdown -layout requires version 11,2504.52.0 or newer. It works with TXT and MD files.
Once switched on, the formatting bar appears in every supported file. If you switch it off, it stays away until you switch it on again.
The update adds handy tabs to the notebook. You can start a new Markdown file by clicking on the File menu and clicking the New Markdown Tab option. Alternatively you can start on a normal tab and use the layout workbar or the syntax of the basic marketdown to start writing Markdown.
The beam is located between the menu and the text field. It contains 7 buttons:
A style underclassification (text, head 1, Kop 2)
Well -printed
Italic
Link
Storage list
Numbered list
Clear layout
When you apply a style, this Markdown signs insert. Bold wraps text in **. A head adds # or ## at the start of the line. A link has been inserted [text](URL) After the address has been entered. Use bullets -. Numbered lists start with 1. You can do the same manually with typed syntax.
Switch between formatted and unprocessed views
There are two ways to disrupt. Go to the upper menu in the upper menu and then choose the Markdown source. Or click on the link in the right corner of the window.
The syntax displayed display. You see stylized heads, linked text, shown frames. RAW view shows every character. Nothing has been lost between them.
The file remains the same. The display is reset when you close it.
Clear layout when needed
To delete the syntax, select text and go to Edit> Delete all layout. This only removes Markdown signs. The text remains. It even works if the symbols are typed by hand. Handy when cleaning stuck content or one step back to normal text.
Quick drawings of Keyboard Work
You can use Ctrl+B to use Bold, Ctrl+I for italics and Ctrl+K to insert a link. These shortcuts package the selected text in Markdown syntaxis. You will see the style changes immediately if you are in a made -up view.
Other Markdown -Snelk couplings are not included. There is no headline. You can type manually or use the toolbar. Lists also need the beam or immediately types. Tab does not stimulate a bullet. Shift+Enter makes a new rule, not a new frame item.
If you rely on muscle memory from Word or other editors, most will not pass. The shortcuts are fairly simple.
Which still ignores notepad
Tables are ignored. You can type them with the help of blowjob and stripes, but they will not render. There is no table button and no column alignment. Images are not supported. Type Does nothing in the made -up view. It remains as a text.
Fenced code blocks are not styled. You can use triple backticks, but notepads do not bring a syntaxis marking. It just keeps the text monospaced, or you can get a “non -supported syntax” detected “. Strikethrough does not work. Neither footnotes, task lists, definition lists or head of anchors.
There is no institution to extend support. What the bar does is what the renderer supports. There is also a new tab page settings where you can choose from pre -set sizes, the orientation, margins can change and even add headers and footers to your text.
What the Toggle actually does
The made -up display is only visual. The file remains unchanged. You can switch back and forth at any time. Nothing is lost. The heads use larger fonts in formatted display. Lists are somewhat on. Links can be clickable. The emphasis is shown with standard weight and impact. There are no animations or transitions. The styling is static.
All syntaxis is visible in RAW View. You see the #, the **, the brackets. This is the safer display for editing structure-heavy content. It is also the only way to solve syntax problems.
The switch appears in two places: View> Mark-Down and the lower menu.
Save your work
Notepad not standard on MD. Format work in TXT or just the just non -passed tab. The beam responds to content, not just the file type. When you try to save as to use, you will see a pop-up with which you can choose how you want to save the file: normal text or markdown.
Very large files take longer to display in formatted mode. Files of more than 1 MB can display partial layout until the load is complete. If you stick content with incomplete syntax (such as a lost asterisk or bracket), don’t mark it. There is no syntax marking. It is displayed as text. You have to clean it manually.
Undo us as expected. Every layout promotion is a step. You can apply, undo and re -request without errors.
For short notes, concepts and basistaldown output, the new notebook is solid. You don’t have to install anything, and it is largely out of your part. But if you want full syntax support, live preview or export tools, you still have to rely on Obsidian or another Markdown editor.
