This annoying Walker Kessler -rumor is finally dead and buried

Until it has been proven otherwise, the Utah Jazz Walker Kessler will probably retain, which is good news given all the uncertainty at the moment a year ago. While Kessler recovered how good he was last season, there were still rumors that tied him to the Los Angeles Lakers. With Deandre Ayton who signed there, that has been demolished, and hopefully forever.

It has been put forward before Ayton signed with the Lakers means that the rumors of Kessler will die, what has been found and for a good reason. However, Ayton will probably only be a year of rent, which would free up the way for those Kessler rumors to pop up again if he doesn’t stay with the team.

However, by 2025, Kessler is good in position to get a nice large extension of jazz, which he certainly deserves, and they know damn well that playing hardball with him is a bad idea. In anticipation of crazy circumstances – and to be honest, we have seen the Lakers come across a number of crazy circumstances in the past year – Kessler is nowhere, regardless of what LA wants.

That is why it is nice that these rumors are in principle dead and should not pop up for a while. It is not like the rumors of Kessler-to-La ever really gone somewhere to start with, but above all they were just very annoying to see pop-up time and time again.

Moreover, the jazz does not have an incentive to help the Lakers

The reason why the name of Kessler is constantly being driven to the Lakers is because they had migration assets that Utah could appease. However, the jazz has already had enough and has signaled by other transactions, such as the person they did with Phoenix in February, that their focus is the quality of assets, does not quantity.

When I looked at the Lakers, it was trying to get more of their assets, nowhere when the jazz already has one from LA thanks to the Mike Conley trade from two years ago. Acquiring more makes no sense in considering two factors.

1. The Lakers that Kessler gets only makes the 2027 choose that they may be much less valuable to the jazz, plus all the other assets they would exchange for him.

2. There is no guarantee that a player may send the Lakers the jazz out of those tensile assets, turn out as good as Kessler, let alone better.

This scenario was not logical at all from the moment it was mentioned for the first time, and luckily it will never be raised again.
