Referring to the analogy of a banyan tree representing the Mahindra Group, developed by Chairman Anand Mahindra at the External and General Meeting of the Board of Directors in 2014, Shah said, “A banyan tree nourishes, touches lives, creates value. Over many years, we have risen higher than ever before. Like the banyan tree, even as we rise, we must remain rooted in our values, while building new trunks that will one day stand tall and reach for the sky.”
Similar to a banyan tree, he said, “We are timeless, expansive and constantly growing. Each trunk is a big company, and from each root grows a new company that over time becomes a trunk – all moving as one.”
Looking back to 2025, he said the group was facing “unprecedented levels of uncertainty” but credited his colleagues for taking the initiative and helping it stay on track.
“We have lived up to our mantra of the past decades: ‘When the going gets tough, Mahindra steps up’, and each of our businesses has delivered strong results… again,” Shah said.
He asked employees to reaffirm the group’s commitment to “our purpose and our values”, adding: “This represents who we are, not just as an organization, but as leaders, as people. It’s not just about what we achieve, it’s more important how we achieve it.”
