1. Winter meetings begin:
The Winter Meetings begin next week, meaning players, agents and executives from across the game will be flocking to Orlando on Sunday. There has already been a lot of trading and free agent activity. Impact-free agents such as Devin Williams And Dylan stops have already signed, and the trade market is buzzing all winter with deals like the Brandon Nimmo for Marcus Semien swap, Boston’s acquisition of Sonny Gray, and last night’s five-player deal between the Pirates and the Red Sox. Activity should only increase from here on out leading up to and during the meetings, with plenty of exciting movement over the next few days. Make sure you stay tuned to MLBTR for the latest rumors and deals!

Yesterday’s aforementioned trade left Boston with one of the top prospects in the outfield Jhostynxon Garcia (along with pitching prospect Naughty Jesus) to Pittsburgh for a package consisting of right-handed Johan Oviedolefty minor league Tyler Samaniegoand catch a prospect Adonis Guzman. The deal added another viable starter to a Red Sox club already deep in rotation candidates. Oviedo will likely fit at the back of the club’s rotation Patrick Sandovalof Garrett hook, Son GrayAnd Brayan Bello in the first three slots and younger pieces such as Connelly asked, Kyle HarrisonAnd Payton Tolle serves as depth. Even that doesn’t matter Cuts Crawfordwho missed the 2025 season due to injury but was not a valuable rotation member until 2024. The Red Sox remain quite active in the offseason markets heading into next week’s Winter Meetings.
3. Voting results of the Eras committee will be announced:
One of the first parts of the Winter Meetings schedule is also one of the most important, as a committee of former players, executives and media members will meet to vote on the Hall of Fame candidates from this year’s list of Eras Committee nominees. This year’s nominees are Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Don Mattingley, Dale Murphy, Gary SheffieldAnd Fernando Valenzuela. At least 12 votes from the committee’s 16 members are needed to be admitted to Cooperstown, and the results of that vote will be revealed next Sunday at 6:30 PM CT on MLB Network.
