Eddie Howe signed Nick Woltemade for £ 65 million (plus possibly another £ 4.3 million in future add-ons) just over five weeks ago.
The signing was made ridiculous on a large scale in Germany by their media (then lazily buried by the British media) because of those transfer costs, much of that driven by the most important figures of Bayern Munich upset that Newcastle United had paid the asking price of Stuttgart after Bayern had tried to prove three Lowball.
Things have become even more bizarre, because that negative Nick Woltemade coverage has continued to a certain extent, although the striker with every passing game (and goal!) Looks a better and better signature.
With five starts so far and four goals in Newcastle United, then added to his general versions, no wonder that Bayern Munich is crying because they have missed their transfer target who they wanted to be the successor of Harry Kane in the long term.
After Nick Woltemade had signed for NUFC, there was immediately an international break of two weeks, which delay his appearance in a black -white shirt.
Hard to believe that this was only three weeks ago …
Nick Woltemade talks about the input of Eddie Howe, after scoring his debut in the 1-0 win over Wolves-11 September 2025:
“He (Eddie Howe) gives me a good feeling
“I have one-on-one conversations with him every day.
“They are usually about topics that have nothing to do with football.
“Like my move, or how my family is doing.
“It’s a great working culture here.”
Three weekends later and Nick Woltemade scored again in St James’ Park, this time against Nottingham Forest, again he wants to refer to the brilliant Eddie Howe – October 5, 2025:
“A big win.
“A second victory a row [after the Champions League victory in midweek].
“A very important and difficult game to come in.
“Good energy … that was the most important point for today.
“Now we are going into the international break with two wins, that was really important.
“We have good energy from the bank and we did very well.
“If you score as a striker on the field, the feeling is really good.
“The Gaffer is such a good Gaffer.”
I still find it strange after almost four years at the club and his sparkle proved repeatedly that some fans of Newcastle United questioned Eddie Howe of Nick Woltemade, especially when the German international did not start against Barcelona, as well as when he was immersed in other games.
Time and again, Eddie Howe has shown that he will do what he thinks is best, despite external sounds from the ‘experts’, especially when it comes to new signing sessions.
Although Newcastle United was in a desperate relegation at the time, it was more than six weeks that Brazil had to wait International Bruno Guimaraes before he made his first start for NUFC and the winner scored in Southampton (March 10, 2022). Then it was actually ten weeks after signing that Bruno made his first start in St James’ Park in a 1-0 win over Wolves on April 8, 2022.
It is just one of the countless reasons why Eddie Howe is so good, how he takes care of his players on and next to the field.
With the careful treatment of the NUFC head coach, Nick Woltemade seems to have a stunning black -white future for him. Great to see that the Germany International recognizes exactly what a star is his new boss.
