Hyundai does its best with cars such as the IONIQ 5 and Ioniq 6, but unfortunately even those cars are not really insane. They are real cars that are generally quite practical, while they just look a little different than the rest of their competitors. If you want something that looks like a real Hot Wheels car, you have to become a little more creative. Such as buying this Automecca Sports from that is Currently for sale on bring a trailer. I mean, take a look at it. That is a wild design.
Also known as the Bruger Box (after the original designer, Curtis Bruger), the Automecca Sports van was built on an old Volkswagen Beetle -Chassis, looked like a spaceship on wheels and only had a single sliding door on the passenger side. Is it the most practical design ever? Not at all, but it looks cool like hell, and sometimes sacrifices have to be made in the name of fashion. It is also driven only by an old Volkswagen 1.6-liter flat-four, so it is absolutely not fast (even if the list says that the engine was rebuilt in 2022), but are you really starting to think of the slow gear when you manage an ultra-rare space bus?

Speaking of rarity, Bruger’s reportedly only three built before he realized that the company went bankrupt and he sold the design to Automecca, which renamed the sports bus. Automecca then only built additional examples about two dozen before it also gave the sports can. So we are talking about a vehicle that is one of less than 30 that have ever been built. Unlike other similar rare vehicles, however, you should be able to do all the work to make it run if you want, because it is almost just an old air -cooled Volkswagen under the futuristic bodywork.
Inside is the dashboardlay -out, uh, “minimalist?” Yes, we are going to go here with “minimalist”. It has all the inputs that are needed to drive, and that is it. Is it attractive? Not really, but it’s functional. However, go along the front row, and you will be greeted with a glorious Red Lounge area that is throughout 1970 and looks ridiculous (as long as you don’t bring Blacklight in the area). Oh, and you get a brother Aquatron VX-33 8-track player, so if you have an 8-track collection that you listen to on the road, this van is almost perfect.
Unfortunately, while the sports bus is absolutely shouting ‘real-life hot Wheels Car’, one of the two surfboards mounted on the roof literally says ‘hot wheels’ on it, as if Our friends at the Autopian pointed A few years ago, Hot Wheels De Bruger Box never turned into an official Hot Wheels car. That is really a tragedy. Still, how cool would it be to possess such a rare, wild design?
