The Cal Raleigh of Mariners breaks Mickey Mantle’s Single-Season Home Run Record by Switch-Hitter

Kansas City, Mo.-Cal Raleigh, a few homers hit the season record of Seattle of Ken Griffey Jr., Dominic Canzone hit a career-best three homers and the already West-tooning Mariners strived the fading Kansas Royals 12-5 on Tuesday evening.

Raleigh’s first Homer, a 419-foot shot from Michael Wacha while he hit left-handed, gave him 55 on season and broke the record for a switch-hitter by Yankees Great Mickey Mantle in 1961.

Raleigh’s second shot, a 425-footer from Daniel Lynch IV while he hit right-handed, tied the club Mark Die Griffey in the 1997 season and matched the following year.

It was the 10th Multihomer competition this season for “The Big Dumper” and the 20th of Raleigh’s career.

The All-Star catcher also doubled in the first inning and ended 3 for 5 with three RBIs, giving him 118 in the year.

Canzone Homde in the second inning, the fifth and ninth on a hot, damp, late summer night in which balls sailed from the spacious Kauffman stage.

The designated Slagman also had a few singles to end 5 to 5 with four RBIs.

Carter Jensen hit the first two gays of his big league career for Kansas City.

It seemed as if he had a third before his long flight ball in the eighth inning bounced from the right -wing wall for a double.

Logan Gilbert (5-6) allowed two runs to six hits of more than 5 ²/₃ innings while he hit five for Seattle.

The 28-year-old Righty, who also threw well against the Royals in June, has only allowed seven earned runs in total during his last five starts.

Wacha (9-12) returned after missing his last planned start due to a stint on the seven-day concussion list.

He allowed a season -high seven points on nine hits of more than 2 ²/₃ innings for Kansas City.
