Deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck are reportedly on hold, because the company works to solve a problem with the trim of the vehicle. According to Electrek, Tesla initiated a “inclusion” on some trucks because of the decorative finish, known as the Cantrail, loosens and flies away. Service representatives informed customers awaiting the delivery that their trucks would be postponed, but they were not explicitly told the reason for the hold.

A “inclusion Hold” is a proactive measure of car manufacturers to tackle a quality problem or defect before vehicles are delivered to customers. In this case, Tesla reportedly communicated to some customers that the problem is linked to the cant trail finish, which covers the roof edge above the door.

The severity of the problem can lead to a delay of a few weeks, depending on how widespread the problem is.

The trim problem has been addressed in earlier complaints with the federal government, with some reports that suggest that the CantTrail trim is confirmed with the help of glue, which may not hold as intended. A YouTube video from more than a month ago dives into the details of the trim problem, which means that attention is drawn to quality problems with the cyber truck. This is not the first time that the vehicle has to deal with problems with regard to the trim. Last summer Tesla reminded more than 11,000 trucks because of problems with “incorrectly attached trunk pliques.”

Since the official launch of the cyber truck in December 2023, the vehicle has been recalled seven times. Despite these issues, Tesla sold an estimated 40,000 cyber trucks in 2024, although it still has more than 1 million reservations. Reports suggest that some cyber trucks accumulate on plots for used cars, and production causes have taken place, in which factory workers in Austin were told to stay at home for three days in December.

The vehicle has also become a target for graffiti and vandalism because of the controversial role of Elon Musk as a special adviser to the Trump administration, which contributes to the challenges of the truck.
