As a prison date of 13 October comes closer, Madigan hires an experienced appellate team

Chicago – A federal court on Friday denied the legal arguments of the former speaker of Illinois Michael Madigan that he had to stay out of prison while his appeal to both his corruption convictions and 7 ½ years in prison.

Madigan is planned to report to prison on 13 October, although the Federal Bureau of Prisons has not yet assigned him a facility. The former speaker, whose 36-year-old reign in Springfield has made him the longest serving legislative leader in American history, has already started the professional process, although his entire arguments are not due to a few weeks.

Former Democratic House speaker Michael Madigan leaves the Federal Court of the Dirksen Court after a prison sentence of 7 ½ years on accusations of corruption on 13 June 2025.

Judge John Blakey of the American District, who foreseen the long process of Madigan last fall and winter and sentenced Madigan to his long-term prison sentence in June, wrote on Friday in an order of 44 pages that the “entire movement journeys of the former speaker on routine and tolerable” objections.

“As such, he clings to false hope,” Blakey wrote.

In February a jury left a split judgment for Madigan, who substantiated him on 10 of 23 corruption-related charges, including bribery and wire fraud. The jury has acquitted Madigan on seven counts and exploded on another six, but the 10 on which he was convicted concerns the Commonwealth Edison of Electric Utility and dealing with Chicago Alderman-Fbi Mole Danny Solis, who introduced Madigan to powerful real estate developers as potential customers.

Blakey wrote that Madigan’s arguments to remain free during his profession, not the high bar to address ‘a substantial issue of rights or facts’.

The former speaker recently hired a team of lawyers who have years of experience with a fight at the American Supreme Court. Madigan’s legal strategy revolves around the definition of ‘bribery’, which the High Court investigated last summer in a case that delayed the case of the former speaker.

Some of those who have been convicted of bribing Madigan, including former comed CEO Anne Pramaggiore and the old Springfield lobbyist and Madigan trusting Mike McClain, also call on the same site.

Earlier this summer, Pramaggiore, McClain and the other two members of Theso-Called “Comed Four” were sentenced to prison sentences ranging from one year and a day to two years for their role in orchestrating the bribery schedule.
