Progress in technology has brought about a revolution in the way we practice and play golf. Data-driven insights enable instructors and players to break down any aspect of the game in detail-what has resulted in some fascinating findings.

Instruction concepts that were once considered fundamentally are now being investigated and updated, thanks to innovations such as launch monitors, printing plates, 3D analysis and more.

A good example of this is how the putter release is taught.

In a recent video from Golf Top 100 teacher Chris Como, top coach Stephen Sweeney explains that many instructors and amateurs believe that the toe of the Putter should pass the heel in the lead.

“That is a kind of myth that has been around for a long time,” says Sweeney.

Think of the release vertical, not horizontal

SEENEY explains that it is a concept that came about when we could only analyze the well stroke with 2D cameras from a face-on-corner De Putter a more horizontal delivery pattern appeared.

These old put evaluations showed that when players took the putter back, it was unleashed and the appearance gave the toe behind the putter. While they reached the impact, Sweeney explains that the putter had been raised again, making it looked like the toe and the heel were up.

“And when they added Loft to the putter, it seemed like a 2D camera that the toe passed the heel,” says Snaeney.

Thanks to technological progress, we now have a better insight into what actually happens during the well -stroke – and what important elements should be observed from top putters in the game, such as Tiger Woods.

Seveney explains that it is not about the rotation release, but about the vertical. Instead of striving for a more horizontal, or around the body, players should think of their hands to rise naturally by the stroke.

“So understand how the putter is correctly released and the shaft corner controls, the club face will actually help control and arrange that release pattern,” says Seveney.

If it worked for Tiger, it can work for you.
