Shakeup in week 8 of Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Poll

After an exciting afternoon of Harnas racing on Hambletonian Day (August 2) on the Meadowlands, nothing remained the same in the top 10 of the week 8 edition of the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Poll.

Miki and Minnie, who won 3 Shady Daisy in the Grade 3 on Saturday for her third consecutive victory, took over the number 1 spot from season-long leader Louprint thanks to getting eight votes in the first place and adding 69 points from a week ago for a poll-best total of 280.

Sylvia Hanover, who won the grade 2 Lady Liberty compared to the then no. 2-ranked Twin B Joe Fresh, vaulted from the sixth to second in the poll. She received six votes in first place and 273 points, an increase of 123 points compared to last week.

Louprint, who was in the ranking for the first time every week since the poll on 18 June, but no more racing since winning the North America Cup four days earlier, fell to third place. He pulled a Poll-High 16 first place votes (a three-year-old decrease from last week) but saw his point total dip with 27.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Poll, which will continue on Wednesday through the Grand Circuit season on Wednesday, does not determine any prices before the end of the year.
