We see many notable cars being auctioned, but finding a 1983 Honda City Turbo II in virtually showroom-fresh condition with a Motocompacto matching color and sticker is not only remarkable, but downright extraordinary. This City is painted in Windsor Dark Blue Metallic with ’80s stripes and Turbo II graphics on both the car and the Motocompacto, and the two Hondas are auctioned on Cars and bids.

We’ve featured Honda City Turbos for sale before, but this might be the cleanest example we’ve ever seen, and if you think the exterior is clean, just wait until you see the interior. The Honda City Turbo is a small two-door hatchback with four seats – not a Kei car – which looked funky and had even funkier options. One of the Honda City’s most notable options was the compact 50cc gas scooter called the Motocompo, which could be folded and transported in the City’s trunk.

While this ’83 City Turbo II doesn’t come with a Motocompo, it does come with the next best thing: Honda’s modern reinterpretation of a Motocompo, the suitcase-sized Motocompacto electric scooter. I can speak from personal experience when I say that the Motocompacto is a small and portable fun machine, so don’t despair that it doesn’t have the original Motocompo.

This is a showroom-fresh city

This City Turbo II is a right-hand drive Japanese market car, but has a Texas title, so the new buyer won’t have to worry about import challenges. The odometer shows 48,900 kilometers on the five-digit odometer, which equates to approximately 30,400 miles, and while the seller notes that the odometer may have turned over, the car’s pristine condition makes the mileage appear realistic.

The interior really shocked me. The blue and gray upholstery and striped Turbo II floor mats look brand new, and the blue dashboard and steering wheel really look showroom fresh, despite this being a 42 year old car. Neither the door-mounted armrests nor the five-speed shifter show signs of even minor wear. This example also has 13-inch Speedline wheels, fog lights, a rear window wiper, air conditioning and even an in-dash drinks cooler.

Under its tiny hood lies another remarkably clean feature: a punchy 1.2-liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder engine. When new, this supercharged powerplant produced about 109 horsepower, which was a huge power increase over the 62 horses of the standard naturally aspirated City. The seller reports that they recently replaced the car’s AC compressor and battery, removed and cleaned the fuel tank, performed a coolant flush, and an oil change and fuel system service. This is a very special car and I hope the new owner will have a lot of fun with it. I mean, how can you not smile when you drive this cute, powerful and pristine time capsule on wheels?
