The PGA Tour season 2025 officially ended on Sunday at the Tour Championship 2025. Although the finish of Rory McIlroy was disappointing to East Lake, this year it had been a historic for the now five -time big champion. McIlroy, however, quickly reminded reporters that the pro golf season is not nearly over.
Before he left East Lake, McIlroy carried out a quick scrum with reporters and was much more interested in talking about the future than looking at his less than Stellar Fedex Cup Playoffs performance. That future includes a busy piece of important tournaments in the coming months.
Then Rory threw to New York City, where he was seen in the crowd during the US Open Tennis event in Queens, only a few hours after he had turned off at the age of 18.
McIlroy refuses to look back with more golf to play
History is likely to look back on 2025 as one of McIlroy’s best on the PGA Tour. He conquered two huge tour extresses early in the year. He won his very first Tour start at the Signature Event At & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He then won his second career player championship title on TPC Sawgrass in March, together with the check for $ 4.5 million winner.

Of course the McIlroy season will be best remembered for his dramatic victory at the Masters, who represented his long -awaited first victory at Augusta National and the completion of the Grand Slam career.
However, it did not end as he had wanted. After he ended the regular season in second place, McIlroy skipped the first tournament from the Fedex Cup -Play -offs. He finished T12 at the BMW championship and then staggered to a T23 finish at the Tour Championship.
But McIlroy was not interested in looking back on the season that was in East Lake on Sunday evening, which was challenging that it would still come.
When asked to summarize his tour season, McIlroy did not take the bait.
“Yes, the season is not over for me. I still have a lot of wave,” said McIlroy. “I refuse to call this the end of the season.”
McIlroy’s ‘important’ closing strength to the 2025 season
He had a lot to say about his upcoming piece that stops comprises on the Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship of the DP World Tour. He tries to chase his seventh career race to Dubai Victory, the seasonal DP World Tour title. McIlroy is currently two behind the record of Collin Montgomerie van Acht.
“Yes, it means a lot. That is two big weeks for me to try to expand my lead in the race to Dubai,” McIlroy explained. “That has become a pretty important thing for me. I chase a little history to that. I want to put my head down and play well for a few weeks.”
He continued: “They are a bit like two home tournaments for me, Ireland is my national open, and then we almost live on the track at Wentworth.”

Two weeks after the BMW PGA, McIlroy will compete in one of the most important events of the year for everyone: the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
“Big few weeks to try to play well, but also to sharpen various aspects of the game that the Ryder Cup is going into,” he said on Sunday.
But Rory’s season does not end there. After the Ryder Cup he is expected to go to India in October for the DP World India Championship, Dubai in November for the DP World Tour Championship and Australia in December for the Australian Open.
Rory Spotted on US Open in New York to record tennis
With a big season and the FedEx Cup -Play -offs behind him and an incredibly busy stretch for him, McIlroy went directly to New York on Sunday evening from East Lake for some R&R.
And he wasted no time.
About three hours after his interview after the round on the Tour Championship, McIlroy was spotted in the crowd on the US Open Tennis Tournament in Queens.
The TV callers recognized his presence on the broadcast. While the camera was to him, they said, “Rory McIlroy. Loves his tennis, not bad at Golf.”
McIlroy, an avid tennis fan that regularly attends Grand Slam events, was in Flushing Meadows to catch the legend Novak Djokovic on student ten in the first round of the US Open in Arthur Ashe Stadium (Djokovic won in three sets).
The golf season of the reigning Masters Champion kicks back in the gear in two weeks on the Amgen Irish Open from 4-7 September.
