Scottie Scheffler plays this week’s BMW championship without regular Caddy Ted Scott, Scheffler’s agent confirmed to the PGA Tour Communications Team On Tuesday.
During last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scott wore the bag for Scheffler for the first three rounds before he returned to his house in Louisiana on Saturday evening for an emergency. Scheffler followed the third round leader Tommy Fleetwood through two shots on his way to the final round.

PGA Tour Chaplain and Close Scheffler -family friend Brad Payne rode from his house in Dallas to Caddy to Memphis for Scheffler’s final round. It was the second time that Payne had filled in before Scott in recent months, after he had worn Scheffler’s bag in the third round of the PGA championship 2024, while Scott attended his daughter’s high school. Scheffler finally finished T3 after firing a final round of three in Memphis-a shot in Memphis to make the play-off between Justin Rose and JJ Spaun. Rose eventually prevailed.
This week Scott will stay at home with his family and Scheffler brings a new face in: Michael Cromie, who regularly sees Caddies for Chris Kirk, will take up Scheffler’s bag in Caves Valley.
Kirk finished T9 during last week’s Fedex St. Jude, but it was not enough to push him in the top 50 field this week. Instead, he finished one shot shy at 51st. That means that Kirk will be free in the coming weeks until the start of the FedEx Cup-Val, a series of seven tournament that starts in September with the ProCore Championship in Napa, California.
FedEx Cup points are worth the valuable value during this week’s BMW championship. Once the tournament is completed, the top 30 players on the Fedex Cup point list will receive a FedEx Cup bonus benefit from a wallet of $ 20 million, and they will continue to next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake, where each player will compete on a playing field for a $ 40 million bag.
A victory this week would mark the first PGA Tour victory of Scheffler without Scott on the bag.
