Russell Martin said he wants Rangers to be more “ruthless” after their defeat of the second row of Champions League against Viktoria Plzen.
The Scottish Premiership side lost 2-1 in the way of their draw, but won 4-2 aggregated to secure a play-off collision against Club Brugge for a place in the competition phase of the Champions League.
Target baskets of Jack Butland helped Rangers to avoid the wrong end of an exciting comeback. He made eight Saves in the competition, because the 3.31 expected goals from PLZEN (XG) to Rangers’ 1.1 emphasized the state of affairs in the Doosan Arena.
Martin was happy that his team would reach the next round of the competition, but insisted that they should improve a lot.
“We really have to be ruthless,” Martin told Rankstv.

“So I am disappointed about the implementation, I am disappointed about the result, but there is a lot to build and we just have to be cleaner with the ball.
“There were a number of really good moments of football, we looked very good in the last seven minutes, but there were far too many moments for those who were also inflicted themselves.
“I am disappointed that we have lost, we had a number of really good moments, but I am disappointed how many shots we have given them, how many opportunities we have given them and I am also disappointed about how often we have come in and around their box with an overload, large numbers and then the last pass.
“Jack Butland was great, last week he had very little to do in this game and tonight too much. We have to look it up, but even with his decision -making with the ball at his feet he is very well selected, so I am really satisfied with Jack.”
Rangers already played a 2-2 draw with Club Brugge in the preseason, which came back from two goals to protect the draw in the friendly.
Martin believes that his side cannot have a repeat of their performance in the second row against PLZEN in the next round.
“We had an interesting match against them in the preseason, so we know a bit about each other and we have to be better than tonight,” Martin added.
“We had a number of really good moments as we put in the first leg tonight and didn’t make enough of it.”
