Roki Sasaki receives an important update on the status of the Wildcards for Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that the 23-year-old right-handed Roki Sasaki is expected to be on the Wildcard schedule, but added: “Nothing has been completed.” The skipper touched the reasoning why he wants the young starter believer to play the leap to the late season.

“The way he threw, the big competitions in which he was thrown earlier, that’s something that I can trust,” said Roberts.

Sasaki started a frustrating start to his MLB career, especially after the extreme praise he received from the baseball world when he went to North America this season. Sasaki had an ERA of 2.10 in four seasons in Professional Baseball from Nippon, who swung 505 Strikeouts to only 88 walks during his term of office.

After his first eight starts, the right-handed person had an ERA of 4.72, with less fastball speed and the command in general. By 34.1 Innings, Sasaki threw 24 strikeouts to 22 walks, added a few wild fields and hit three batters along the way.

A shoulder decision sidelined him for more than four months, but towards the end of his triple-a-rehabilitation assignment something incredible happened to the young pitcher. Between his penultimate and his last start, his fastball speed jumped more than 4 miles per hour. This led the Dodgers to have the last two performances by Sasaki in Triple-A from the Bullpen.

After Sasaki returned to the active schedule earlier this month, he made two performances in relief, threw four, ran zero and only allowed one hit.

If Sasaki can help De Bullpen on such a critical point in the season – kicking off the late season with some success against the Cincinnati Reds – he would illuminate a large pressure point that the Dodgers have recently confronted on the road to be the first consecutive champions of baseball in 25 years.
