LeBron James said that his status on an expiring contract of $ 52.6 million with the Los Angeles Lakers will not affect his performance on the floor.
“It will not have an impact,” James told ESPN. “I am super enthusiastic about the challenges and the excitement of our team. We have added a number of new boys. We still have a year under our belt with our coaching staff last year. I got a full year with Luka for a full year [Doncic] And another year with the boys I have been to. So super enthusiastic about that.
“And at the moment I am not worried about contracts in my career. That does not bother me at all. Super humble to even have it, still have a contract and to be able to play the game that I still love in this part of my career and fully benefit from it.”
James said his focus is on preparing his body to play a season of 82 games.
“That is always the challenge: how can I get my body almost 100 percent? Of course, from the MCL disposal last year, the foot has of course given me a little problem from time to time in the course of the last few seasons. So that is always the challenge of seeing how I can’t get my body now. I want to be in September.
James also said that his mental approach and how his body reacts will be checked while he will retire in the future.
“For me it’s just, am I still enthusiastic about the process? Are I still motivated the process every year?” James ESPN told. “Prepare my body. Prepare my mind. Working on my body, training, things of that nature, to get ready for a full season.
“I think once I get out of love on the process, I know for sure. Then it would probably be the end for me.”
