The director of England, Rob Key, warned players to be ‘smart’ and to avoid ‘stupid things’ during the upcoming Ashes tour.
Ben Stokes’ 16-person team will go to Australia in November hoping to reclaim the urn for the first time since 2015.
The spotlights will be firm in the visiting players and coaching staff and, after he was part of the Ashes tour in 2002-03, the former English Slagman knows firsthand how intense the blinding will probably be.
“They have to be smart, right?” Said Key on the Love of Cricket Podcast.

Smart
“I hope they all listen to this, players, because it saves me to send a WhatsApp or an e -mail and tell them:” You have to be smart “, because if they get there, they won’t be anonymous.”
Key added: “I remember that Nasser Hussain did the first press conference in 2002 and said:” We have to catch all our catches, we can’t afford to make 15, 20 chances, “which is absolutely correct.
“The next day in practice, the West -Australian newspaper had photos of John Crawley who dropped a catch.
“Our players should be smart and not be caught doing stupid things and just take into account that this may be one of the best series of all time.
“It will be fascinating and that makes an interest that is great for the game.”
