Ricki-Lee Coulter buys new $3.5 million home in Sydney – realestate.com.au

Singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee Coulter just spent $3.5 million on a new home in one of Sydney’s most desirable neighborhoods, but she doesn’t even plan to live there.

Singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee Coulter and her husband, manager Richard Harrison, have become Sydney landlords, potentially heralding a more permanent time in the inner city.

They have spent $3.505 million on a newly renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom terrace in Redfern, but won’t move in yet.

As landlords, they have sought tenants on $1,650 per week, which equates to a modest rental yield of 2.45 percent. Coulter, who turned 40 this month on Hamilton Island, has a 99 percent stake.

The couple are committed to renting a luxury three-bedroom apartment at The Residence, overlooking Hyde Park, on the edge of Sydney CBD, for around $4,000 a week, after selling their Avalon home for $2.845 million in 2023.

The couple had been splitting their time between the northern beaches and the city for more than a year before the 2023 sale.

The Residence is the same apartment complex where fellow singer Delta Goodrem owns a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment purchased for $4.8 million in 2018.

Goodrem and her husband Matthew Copley inspected a property for sale in oceanfront Dover Heights, according to news.com.au.

Coulter’s 20th century Redfern terrace last sold in 2010 for $1,135,000.

The renovation included a galley-style gas stone kitchen with Bosch gas appliances.

The informal living space opens onto a courtyard with integrated barbecue and built-in seating.

There is access via the back lane.

Each of the front living and dining areas has a restored fireplace and high ornate ceilings. The 1,300 sq ft property was sold on the market in just over three weeks through Ray White Touma Taylor.

It was offered for rent through rental company Preferental, which was founded last year by Kate Lorden and Veronica Morgan.

The average three-bedroom home value in Redfern is $2.2 million, up 3.7 percent in the past twelve months, based on 35 sales, according to PropTrack. The three-bedroom terraces typically rent for $1,100 per week, with an annual gross rental yield of 2.6 percent, PropTrack calculates.

The Nova FM drive time co-host and Harrison called Avalon Beach home for almost a decade before selling two years ago.

The 1990s house was purchased for $1.1 million in 2014, a year after the couple tied the knot in Paris. Coulter told her 624,000 Facebook followers that she was planning their return to the City of Love.

The couple first called together in a Bondi rental apartment around 2010, a year after they met at Melbourne’s Esplanade Hotel.

Coulter will be performing at the Beresford Hotel, Surry Hills, this weekend to celebrate 14 years of Beresford Sundays.

Her Nova FM co-host Tim Blackwell recently sold his former marital home in Stanmore for $4.65 million.

In February, Coulter revealed how she really felt after finding fame on 2004’s Australian Idol. At the time, she was voted out in sixth place, but 20 years later she said she felt “robbed.”

“Do I think I’ve been robbed?” she told TV Week. “Well… sure. I don’t think I picked the right song for Beatles night. But I was a teenager and only listened to hip-hop or soul music, so I didn’t know many Beatles songs unless it was a cover. [by another artist]. That’s why I was voted out. But everything else was perfect leading up to it.

“I kind of liked that it happened. I was able to shape my career in a way that I might not have had if I had won.”
