Paul will share the boxing ring with Anthony Joshua on Friday. The professional fight lasts eight rounds of three minutes. Credible boxing experts have picked Joshua to finish Paul early unless he wants to drag things out. Some MMA fighters have gone against the grain and chosen “El Gallo” to pull off the massive upset.
Former UFC fan favorite Matt Brown is unimpressed by those predicting a win for Paul and he explained why during a recent edition of MMAFighting.com’The Fighter versus the Writer.’
“This is when some of these people make predictions like ‘Jake Paul is going to beat him’ or whatever. I think it almost has to be a cop,” Brown said. ‘It’s kind of a win-win situation [Jake Paul] goes out and hits him, you fucking called it! You predicted it, you’re the man. If he doesn’t beat him, [you say] “Do you really think I thought that?” I think it’s about the same with Conor [McGregor when he fought Floyd Mayweather]. If you’re wrong, no one will remember. “Oh, what an idiot to think such things.” But if you make the prediction, everyone will remember it as, ‘oh wow, you must be the combat expert!’”
Brown went on to berate those who picked Paul to win just for some extra clout. He thinks that common sense in this situation is too self-evident to actually believe in such a prediction.
“You’re not a combat expert if you call Jake Paul to win,” Brown said. “You’re going against everything any fighting expert would ever consider. There’s no reason to believe Jake Paul has a chance against Anthony Joshua. Does that mean he can’t go out there and win? They throw punches. Punches come fast and random things happen. Could Jake Paul go out and throw a punch and Anthony Joshua would be looking at a girl in the crowd or maybe Jake Paul puts some damn ZzzQuil in his drink or something. We don’t know. Joshua could be on the wrong foot sleeping side of the bed or having had a bad night’s sleep the night before.
