Reece James back in team: predicted Chelsea XI vs Burnley

With the final international break of 2025 coming to an end, Chelsea will take on Burnley in Premier League Matchday 12 on Saturday at 12pm. They want to remain unbeaten for five games and gain three crucial points.

After a comfortable win over Wolverhampton Wanderers a fortnight ago, Burnley could prove to be a tough test for the Blues, who could field their best possible line-up for the match despite a Champions League clash with Barcelona next Tuesday.

That said, here’s a look at their potential as a starting XI for next weekend.

Goalkeeper – Robert Sanchez is expected to continue playing between the sticks against Burnley.

Defenders – Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana did a great job together to keep Wolves at bay last time out and will likely be trusted as centre-backs again. However, the team’s back four could see one change, with Reece James possibly coming in for Malo Gusto, while Marc Cucurella could keep his place at left-back.

Delap and the duo Pedro start

Midfielders – Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will have a number of international matches under their belts, but Romeo Lavia’s injury means neither will get any rest. The South American duo could therefore play in the double pivot against Burnley.

Joao Pedro could be the attacking midfielder, while Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho on the right and left wings respectively could complete an unchanged Chelsea in the middle of the park and slightly higher up the pitch.

Come on – Liam Delap could be appointed by Enzo Maresca to take charge ahead of Marc Guiu.

Here’s a look at Chelsea’s future line-up on paper.
