Reds Notebook: Elite exit velos and an incredible catch in winter ball – Redleg Nation

While we’ve known since late June that Redsfest would return in January 2026 after a hiatus while the Cincinnati Convention Center was renovated, we now know exactly when. The event will return for the first time in two years on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 January.

Event times

  • Friday, January 16, 2026: 3:00 PM ET – 10:30 PM ET
  • Saturday, January 17, 2026: 11:00 AM ET – 6:30 PM ET

Prices

For the second time in the last three Redsfests, prices are going up. In 2019 it was $25 for a 2-day adult pass or $17 for a 1-day adult pass. When the event returned in 2021, the price increased to $25 for an adult one-day pass and $35 for a two-day adult pass. When it returned within two months, prices increased again.

  • Adults: 1-day pass, $30. 2-day pass $40.
  • Children 12 and under: 1-day pass, $20. 2-day pass, $30.

For those who aren’t as into math as others, prices are now 60% higher than 2019 for a two-day adult pass.

Cincinnati Reds 2026 Prospect List

This week at RedsMinorLeagues.com we’re unveiling the Top 25 Prospect List of 2026. Each day we’ll have a list of five players as we go through the entire list. Today we started it the players ranked 21-25. So if you’re interested in what’s to come in the minor leagues in the coming years, you should probably check this out.

Carlos Jorge makes an incredible catch

The Reds currently don’t have many players active in the winter leagues around the world. Prospects Carlos Jorge is the organization’s only player currently playing regularly anywhere, although a few other minor leaguers are playing games here and there in the Dominican and Mexican Winter Leagues.

Jorge, a midfielder, played for the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Republic, hitting .273/.415/.394 and going 5-for-5 in steals in eleven games played as one of the youngest players in the league. He’s had several highlight plays in the outfield for the Gigantes, and he did it again on Sunday night playing in left field.

Cam Collier is showing off in the AFL

On Sunday night, the Arizona Fall League played their annual Fall Stars game. It’s not exactly an All-Star game, but it’s more of a showcase and All-Star game hybrid. Some guys get rewarded for playing well in the AFL, but other guys who haven’t played well but are known prospects were also in the team.

The Reds had four players on the team, but Rhett Lowder was the only pitcher and he would not pitch in the game. Catcher Alfredo Duno and infielders Leo Balcazar and Cam Collier were also on the team and all came off the bench in the game.

Collier was the only one of the three to get a hit. The first baseman and the occasional third baseman singled in the top of the 8th inning. It also happened to be the hardest hit ball of the game, as it came off the bat at 112.1 miles per hour.

Including the Fall Stars game, Cam Collier has three of the 12 hardest-hit balls in the Arizona Fall League this year. He had a 115.3 MPH double on October 21, which is the third hardest hit ball, his single last night would tie for 10th, and he hit a 112.6 MPH single on October 25, which is the 12th hardest hit ball in the league to date.
