The game remained connected in the 9th inning. Cincinnati went down in order of the inning. Emilio Pagan entered the game for the Reds to face the lower half of the Padres order. He received some help from Spencer sent to first base when he made a diving shelter on a line driving along the line to end the inning and send the game to the 10th.
After the Reds attack had not submitted their free runner at the top of the 10th inning, they sent Nick Martinez to the hill to try to close the Padres. Freddy Fermin was unable to get a sacrificial battle on his first attempt, because it fell into the error area, just from the reach of a diving Spencer steering. The second attempt was successful and on the play Nick Martinez was unable to make the beautiful throw and Fermin reached the base, but Jake Cronenworth remained at third base. Fernando Tatis Jr. However, it came through, while he hit a flight ball deep enough to bring the run to a sacrificial fly.
