Exclusive: Middlesex To Go Pro by 2029

Middlesex Director of Cricket Alan Coleman has told Crickether that the club is planning to take on professional contracts by 2029 to ensure that they can best be placed to continue to Tier One.

Last year, Middlesex failed in their attempt to organize a tier and side, which means that they will be locked up at least in the next 4 years from the upper layer of women’s domestic cricket.

But the club has embarrassed the ECB with their results this season, won 18 of their 21 games, Yorkshire twice defeated and ending as inaugural champions in the vitality development of two ladies.

“The match at Northhants where we won the T20 was an amazing effort – I have never seen a team go through a whole final day without losing a wicket,” ” Said Coleman.

“It is a challenge that the team has embraced, amateurs, against professional teams – not only Yorkshire but Glorgan, who will be Tier One in 2027.”

The challenge of Middlesex is now how best to stay together and to develop a team of amateurs, many of whom do demanding jobs-as characterized by Allrounder Gaya Gole, who works long hours as a management advisor in the city.

For Coleman-Die present in the semi-final of Middlesex against Yorkshire on Sunday is the answer that the club invests directly in their women’s team.

“Middlesex is incredibly ambitious and want to invest desperately in our women’s team,” he said. “There is no larger earning team for that investment.”

“Our challenge is to continue to improve and continue to develop during this period to ensure that we are ready as possible for Tier 1 cricket when and when hopefully the ECB decides to open it.”

“This is year 1 of a 4-year plan to be professional at the end of that period. And we almost want to get it out of the hands of the ECB and say:” You have to make ourselves professional because of the performances that our players have done, in Tier 2 “. “

“So that’s the plan, and part of it will ensure that our players are rewarded for the cricket they play.”

The club still works exactly what that looks like, but it should not surprise us if we see the first tranche of part -time contracts that were awarded before the following season.

“We must continue to invest in this very, very talented group of players to ensure that they get the chance they deserve,” Coleman added.
