Spurs 1 Newcastle 2 – Tuesday 10 February 2026 7.30pm
Newcastle United fan/writer response from some of our regular contributors to The Mag.
Nat Seaton:
‘A very deserved win against a very mediocre Spurs team.
So happy for Ramsey to get his first goal along with a good performance and what a goal it was too!
So much possession, but again no threat in the final third, but I’m not going to complain.
A big three points and away from home.’
Billy Miller:
‘I had to fear the worst when a goal was disallowed because Willock was offside due to a sheen of forehead sweat.
It was a great first-half performance and coming in at 0-0 would have been difficult. But Thiaw gave us the deserved lead before half time.
The fear returned as Spurs inevitably equalized from their first corner, having achieved nothing from our previous 400.
But Ramsey’s first goal gave us the win after some excellent footwork from Gordon.
We were excellent tonight, even if the last 15 minutes were a bit risky.
I thought the much-maligned trio of Elanga, Willock and Ramsey were brilliant and they will have to remain that way if we have to do without Bruno again.’
The armchair fan:
‘Go inside!
Cracking result and also good performance.
Elanga is really growing into his role and is great to get another away win.
A great evening and tomorrow a day off!
Let’s go on the pill.’
Tony Mallabar:
‘What a day.
One of the world’s citizens has been seconded to the village of the damned because of corruption.
So a mid-morning ride to pick him up and off we go to Tottenham.
Many here will analyze the game more succinctly tonight… but at the end of the game, when NGE Howe came over to clap the fans, he was pushed forward by Jacob Murphy and the raw passion he showed will be my lasting memory of the season.”
Matt Busby said…:
‘Very good performance, on the front foot from the start.
So happy for Ramsey, what a goal, brilliant from Gordon to set him up. His celebration showed how much it meant. Willock also played well and Elanga.
Eddie Howe was praised by the traveling hordes after the match, and rightly so.
I hope Bruno isn’t crazy. Let’s continue from here. Next time we have to win at Villa Park.
As for Spurs, two bookings for simulation. They got what they deserved. ‘
Jamie Smith:
‘Doctor Tottenham will speak to you now.
What a tonic to secure a rare away win just days after the lows of the weekend.
Perhaps we were lucky to get one over Spurs before any rejuvenation took place as Frank leads them towards a relegation battle.
I hope we can use this as a boost at Villa Park. I need Bruno to be okay.
I’m not bitter because we won, but the VAR offside case is a joke and needs daylight. There is nothing wrong with Willock’s goal.’
GTone:
‘A much-needed victory, but all our problems are there for all to see.
These problems are on both sides of the field. No goalkeeper and no CF.
That needs to be addressed in the summer and Eddie shouldn’t show sentiment.’
David Punton:
‘A huge result considering what has been happening lately.
The manager has given himself a bit of respite with this priceless win in London, but I’ll be harsh, I’d still like to see us manage the games better.
Spurs are bad too, so we did enough to knock them out.
The VAR farce was difficult to accept, but it did not prove to be a turning point. Incredibly, there was still time to take the lead at the end of a first half that we controlled.
The problem I have is how we gave the initiative back to Spurs, who drew level.
Thank goodness for Jacob Ramsey, who came up with the ace to score the winning goal.
I just hope we can build on this.
The concern was Bruno’s withdrawal. Let’s hope it’s not serious. ‘
