John Quigley, Anika Dy Win Season-own Tournament from Champions titles

Ann Arbor – John Quigley (above, left), a member of the Michigan Publix Golf Association by Sterling Heights, and Anika Dy (above, right) of Bay Meadows Family Golf Course in Travers City, turned out to be the champions under the champions in the Champions in Monday in Travis Pointte.

Quigley won the title of the gentlemen and dy the Women’s Title in the 2025 Gam Tournament of Champions presented by Boyne Golf.

The tournament consisted of 2025 golf club champions and tournament campions from all over state. The GAM Senior Tournament of Champions is on Tuesday in Edgegood Country Club in Commerce Township.

Quigley shot a 1st 71 and got a key bird on the 18th hole, to win.

Tyler Ziccardi from Spring Meadows Country Club in Linden shot 72 and finished second.

David Praet van Lake Orion, the Gam Mid-Amateur champion last month, and Dave Kurtz of Indianwood Golf & Country Club were the next with 74S.

In the meantime, DY shot a 2-under 70 to win with three shots.

Women’s champion Chelsea Collura from West Shore Golf & Country Club in Grosse Ile, shot 73 to finish second.

Lori Schlicher from Garland Lodge & Golf Resort and Isabella Gimenez de Garcia van Clarkston in third place with 74S.

Quigley, the 2024 GAM Mid-Amateur champion, said he played four or five times in the Champions tournament.

“I didn’t really come close, so it was cool to compete and win,” he said. “I didn’t pay attention to the leaderboard and I felt that the scores would be lower than they were. The job was perfect. The greens were perfect, so I thought I didn’t have to watch the leaderboard. Then someone shouted at me on 17, and when they did it, it made me my t -shirt in 18 (Fairway).

Quigley, 41 and a director for Blue Cross Blue Shield by Michigan, said it is a good way to end the season.

“It wasn’t the summer I wanted, but because of this I feel better about it,” he said. “Golf happens to be the thing that I am good enough to compete. It is more about the competition for me, so I try to compete and score every competitive round that I can come in.”

Dy, busy completing post -university studies at the University of Michigan this summer, only played in her second Beyond Events at Bay Meadows tournament.

“I had no idea what to expect, to be honest,” she said. “It’s a new tournament for me. I don’t have my normal friends and competitors in the neighborhood and I had no idea how I would match this field. But the people I played with were great and I had fun outside and I could play well and get a decent score.”

The Michigan Women’s Open Fits Champion had three Birdies and an eagle-3 on the par 5 18th and overcame the double bogey at no. 8 caused by a wandering tee-shot and resulting non-playable lie.

“The putter was good for half of the round and then I made those birdies, but it became windy by the end, which was another challenge to get through,” she said. “The beautiful eagle on 18 kisses the double, so that was nice.”

Dy, 24 and a former golfer of the University of Michigan, said she is looking for work with a degree in motion science and a minor in business, and hopes to continue to compete in amateur golf.

“I think it is playing well in the (Women’s Michigan amateur quarter finalist) and winning this helps me to show that I want to keep playing competitive,” she said. “I am looking forward to playing a few more things next summer as I can.”
