Looking at the Newcastle team against Aston Villa.
The NUFC players hope to go to the best possible start the season.
We have had six friendly competitions so far, Newcastle United opposite Carlisle, Celtic, Arsenal, Team K-League All Stars, Tottenham and Espanyol.
Now only today’s (Saturday, August 9, 2025) at home friendly with Atletico Madrid, before we achieve the right things.
So what can we expect that the Newcastle team will be against Aston Villa?
This is how I see Newcastle United next Saturday at 12.30 pm standing in line against Villa:
Nick Pope
Kieran Trippier
Fabian Schar
And burn
Tino Livramento
Sandro Tonali
Bruno Guimaraes
Joelinton
Harvey Barnes
Anthony Gordon
Anthony Luna
From what Eddie Howe had to say Friday evening, I don’t see that Alexander Isak is available for selection.
In the goal, Aaron Ramsdale could be the choice, but my money is on Nick Pope who is holding the shirt for the time being.
With full-back I think Trippier on the right and Tino on the left. Lewis Hall is now back on the field, but I think it will be given a little more time before Eddie Howe places him as a starter again.
Sven Botman has had injury problems and although he should be in order for the MatchDay team, I think it will make Eddie Howe’s selection of Schar and burn an easy burn.
The midfield trio chooses itself.
Although I don’t think Eddie Howe once started the season with Will Osula in the middle. Instead, I think that will be Anthony Gordon. He looked really good against Tottenham in a free role, through the middle, but was also allowed to wander. Gordon will probably play against Atletico Madrid there on Saturday.
Barnes comes in left as Gordon through the middle, with elanga on the right. However, I would not be shocked if Eddie Howe Jacob Murphy started in this first game of the season, and then brought Elanga off the bank.
